New filters are being installed to stop motor traffic using these neighbourhoods as a through route.
Part of the Haringey Streets for People programme, the measures will reduce road danger, improve air quality and make it easier to walk, wheel, scoot, cycle and shop locally. All homes and businesses remain accessible by motor vehicles at all times.
Both schemes are launching with a full exemptions criteria and application process in place.

Cheers ring round Haringey on A Level results day
Celebrations broke out across our borough on Thursday morning (18 August 2022) as young people from Haringey found out their grades in the A Level, BTec and other vocational qualification exams taken earlier this summer.
Our Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families, Cllr Zena Brabazon, was at Greig City Academy in Hornsey to congratulate the pupils and teaching staff there on all the dedicated hard work that went in to achieve the grades they obtained.
This year was the first time since 2019 pupils sat in-person exams owing to the pandemic, with young people – like all of us – having endured a tumultuous 2 years.
However, despite top grades having fallen in England from 12 months ago, both Fortismere Sixth Form and Greig City Academy bucked that national trend with best-ever, record results this time around.
Read more on results day in Haringey.
Check out the Facebook gallery to see the scenes at Fortismere Sixth Form and Greig City Academy as young people from our borough found out their results.

Thames Water announce hosepipe ban for London from next Wednesday
Thames Water have announced a hosepipe ban affecting London and parts of SE England from next Wednesday (24 August 2022).
After the driest July on record, and below average rainfall in 10 of the last 12 months, water levels in our rivers and reservoirs are much lower than usual.
The recent heatwaves mean that demand for water is also at record levels.
See more details on the water restrictions on the Thames Water website, where you can also learn some timely and useful water saving tips.

Council intervention sees end to noise nuisance for Wood Green residents
Residents of a Wood Green housing association have seen an end to noise nuisance that was impacting on their lives thanks to action by the council’s Noise and Nuisance service.
After receiving a number of noise reports from a resident of Leverton Close, N22 about regular loud noise emanating from a neighbouring property, a joint visit and final warning letter from the council’s Noise and Nuisance service and the housing association finally did the trick and had the desired effect.
Following this dual intervention, the resident who submitted the noise report told the council’s Noise and Nuisance service that the noise had reduced “tremendously,” adding: “I appreciate the efforts by you and the team to help resolve (the noise nuisance). Since your last letter, there’s been no noise nuisance from my neighbours which I’m really grateful to you and the team for.”
Find out more about our work to support these residents, and how you can report noise nuisance in your neighbourhood.

Bringing pride to Bruce Grove with a new mural
Bruce Grove is looking even brighter with a new colourful mural on Holcombe Road based on artwork produced by young people from Bruce Grove Youth Space, whose names are also displayed in the mural.
The installation of the mural was led by local artists Anna Nicola and Matt Dosa as part of the Pride in Bruce Grove project, which aims to enliven public spaces in the town centre through 3 artistic installations that reflect and celebrate Bruce Grove and its communities.
Anna and Matt were helped by 19 local residents ranging in age from under 5 to over 65 and many of the volunteers were from Bruce Grove Youth Space.
Cllr Gordon, Cabinet Member for Housebuilding, Placemaking and Development also joined one of the volunteer sessions and made her mark on the mural.
To find out more about the Pride in Bruce Grove project and watch the video of the mural taking shape, visit the Pride in Bruce Grove webpage.

Off-licence faces 6-week suspension for selling illegal tobacco
A local convenience store in Noel Park has been issued with a 6-week licence suspension after council Trading Standard officers found that it had been selling illegal tobacco products.
Officers initially visited Star Food and Wine located on Westbury Avenue, N22 in January this year after receiving intelligence that the shop was selling illegal tobacco.
Although no evidence was found on this occasion, a locked safe was discovered and on their return to the store, detection dogs indicated the locked safe contained tobacco.
Officers found over 1,000 illegal cigarettes with a Duty value of over £400. In addition to non-payment of the Duty fee, the tobacco also pictured incorrect health warnings and was not in standardised packaging as required for the UK market.
