Dragica Dimefski (nee. Johns Evanoff) of Rochester Hills, MI, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, she was 88 years old. Draga is preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Spasia Johns-Evanoff, her sister Vera Johns-Evanoff, and her husband Kosta Dimefski; Loving mother of Michael (Lisa) Dimefski and Sandy (George) Rochette; cherished grandmother of Molly (Nick) Guss, Jack Dimefski and Brianna Atudoroae, and dear sister of Chris Evanoff. Mrs. Dimefski is survived by loving nieces and nephews; Ky (Jodi) Evanoff, Nick (Kelly) Evanoff, Sophie Evanoff, Igor (Ellie) Baseski; she was a great aunt to Kate, Alex, Maggie, George and Stefan. Born in Prilep, Macedonia in 1934, Draga endured the hardships of WW2 without her father who had left the continent to find a better life for his family outside of Macedonia. During the war Draga looked after both her mother and baby brother who was born after their father had departed. In 1955, 10 years after her father had set off; Draga, her mom, and brother Chris, were reunited with their father who had settled in Detroit, MI. Upon arriving in Detroit, Draga quickly went to work, taking classes at Cass Technical School, learning English, and becoming the first licensed driver in the family. She went on to rekindle her relationship via letters with her previous boyfriend Kosta, who was living in Paris at the time and whom she had not seen or heard from for years. Draga did not waste any time and soon Kosta was in Windsor, Ontario and shortly thereafter the happy couple were married in 1958 and moved into a rental in downtown Detroit. They spent the next 56 years married and building a life filled with family and friends until Kosta passed in 2014. Draga loved to cook for her family and host large gatherings for the holidays and special occasions. Her favorite hobby outside the home was providing comfort and aid for new immigrants and helping them navigate the complex immigration system. She spent thousands of hours finding legal counsel, handling court appointments, registering children for school, translating documents, finding homes and jobs, and giving her assurance that everything would be fine. She helped hundreds of people and families change the course of their lives. The last few years provided more challenges for Draga with the onset of dementia. She never lost her dignity and sense of humor and took everything the disease threw at her in stride. She lived a remarkable life and will be dearly missed.
