Firstclass Safety are pleased to announce that, in partnership with Freightquip Pty Ltd they have been awarded our 1st Depot Protection System order in New Zealand, following on from the success of projects awarded in Australia.  Freightquip have secured a contract with KiwiRail, to supply and install a FirstClass built Depot Protection System (DPS) for the Waltham Mechanical Hub, located in Christchurch.. ScotRail Trains Limited (ScotRail / SRT) is looking to understand the capabilities of third parties operating in the hospitality market. Organisations are asked to register their interest and complete the questionnaire (on the Wax portal), which will inform our strategy and tender documents for on train hospitality.. ScotRail’s New Trains Procurement Programme. ScotRail Trains (SRT) plans to replace 65% of its train fleet (around 675 carriages) in the period 2027 to 2035. Nine of the eleven sub fleets of trains currently operated will be replaced as leases expire and it becomes uneconomical to life extend trains for continued operation. As part of this programme SRT will decarbonise our entire train fleet helping Scottish Government deliver a key milestone in transitioning Scotland to a net zero economy.  Start date - 10/10/22 End date: 31/03/27. International Trade Mission & Opportunity

UK Railway Trade Mission To Australia and New Zealand - UK Suppliers invited to sign up.  UK railway suppliers are invited to sign up to join a Railway Industry Association (RIA) railway trade mission supported by the Department for International Trade (DIT), to New Zealand and Australia. Participants will meet key players and find out more about opportunities in these booming railway markets.  Click HERE to find out more. Dates are Tuesday 29 November 2022 to Monday 05 December 2022 visiting various cities and the mission is timed to finish the day before AusRail in Brisbane, to allow delegates to undertake voluntary activity at the exhibition/conference if they wish.


Portugal: Expressions of Interest - Portugal’s National Investment Plan 2021-2030 includes an investment of €10 billion in rail (new lines, modernisation and electrification - with 100% of the network electrified by 2030 - and rolling stock), and €5 billion in mobility and public transportation - where main projects will focus on decarbonisation of public transportation and promotion of electric mobility. The public rail passenger operator is also looking to upgrade their equipment and services. CP – Comboios de Portugal has recently acquired 51 trains to be refurbished and the National Investment Plan foresees the acquisition of 129 new trains. DIT Portugal is looking to hear from UK companies offering innovative solutions in the following areas: Customer focus -Decarbonisation - Digitalisation - Refurbishment & maintenance of rolling stock. Other News

Scottish Engineering is celebrating having successfully secured Phase 2 of the Rail Cluster Builder project, awarded by Scottish Enterprise and supported by Transport Scotland and Skills Development Scotland.  Phase 2 is a three-year project running until 2025, and Scottish Engineering says it provides the opportunity to build on the momentum of Phase 1, connecting more Scottish businesses with rail sector organisations, strengthening and deepening relationships with key stakeholders across the sector and helping to create innovative, green solutions that will support the net zero targets set out in the Scottish Government’s Rail Services Decarbonisation Action Plan.
