APD Labor Day DWI Enforcement Initiative

The Austin Police Department (APD) will be conducting a Labor Day DWI Enforcement Initiative to reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities due to drunk drivers. This initiative will be in effect from Friday, August 19th, thru Monday, September 5th.

This initiative will run in conjunction with the DWI No Refusal Initiative funded by the Austin Transportation Department - Vision Zero, which will continue to be in effect every Thursday thru Sunday with an additional day on Labor Day, Monday, September 5th.

This DWI initiative is an effort to enforce DWI laws and to keep the public safe by encouraging drivers to make responsible decisions. APD wants everyone to enjoy the Labor Day holiday and a safe back-to-school season.

The Austin Police Department focuses on saving lives on the streets and highways of Austin and making Austin roadways safe for everyone through education and enforcement. This enforcement period is provided through an Impaired Driving Mobilization grant from TXDOT.
