Thank you to all who attended or helped with CarpentryCon 2022!

CarpentryCon 2022 has now passed and we wanted to thank everyone who attended a session, helped volunteer on the task force, and all the other ways that our community worked to make the event successful. Following this are some lingering updates about the conference.

  • If you have not already, please take five minutes to provide us with feedback on your CarpentryCon experience. This information helps us continue to offer programming that best supports the community. Thanks so much for your time!

  • The Accessibility Fund met its goal with contributions totaling $5,285 (USD)

  • For those sessions that were recorded, we are working to upload them to the Carpentries YouTube and we will update when they are available to stream!

Community News & Updates

Updates from The Curriculum Team at CarpentryCon

The Carpentries Curriculum Team supported several sessions during CarpentryCon 2022 including:

  • A pair of panel discussions on lesson translation, covering past and present efforts to internationalise and localise curriculum, and a vision for the integration of lesson content in multiple languages in future. Look out for further updates on the blog, and catch up on the session recordings when they have been uploaded to our YouTube channel.

Highlights from The Carpentries Community Calendar

Community Discussions and Themed Discussions in The Carpentries are a great way to interact with, learn from and share your knowledge and experiences with other Carpentries community members from around the world. Subscribe to our community calendar for updates on community calls that may pique your interest and are in a befitting hour depending on your timezone and schedule. You can also watch some of our recorded community calls on our YouTube channel.

  • Acc-athon
    Curious what Alt. Tags are or why they are important? Join us from a community discussion, the first part of each session will be learning about Alt. Text and the rest of the time will be spent creating Alt. Tags for images in Carpentries Curricula. Joining the first hour will meet requirements for check out. Everyone is encouraged to stay and support creating Alt. Tags.

  • Member Council Meetings

    The Carpentries will be holding two meetings of the Member Council on 23/24 May. Member Council meetings are an opportunity for Member Organisations to come together and share ideas and tips for building Carpentries community locally. The Carpentries staff will also present a quarterly update on new programs, opportunities, and other topics of interest to Member Organisations.

Incubator Lesson Spotlight

The Incubator Lesson Spotlight is a regular feature in The Carpentries blog and Carpentries Clippings newsletter, highlighting the great work our community is doing to develop new lessons in The Carpentries Incubator. Developers of any lesson in the Incubator are encouraged to submit details about their material for inclusion in the series.

This edition’s featured lesson is Introduction to Reproducible Publications with RStudio
