Community Living BC (2019) estimated 24.2% of adults who they support had some employment income. The estimated gender breakdown was 61% male and 39% female. In this video we explore gender inequities and reflect on how gender matters when it comes to employment outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities.

Getting Ready to Work in our Schools

Inclusive education plays an important role in facilitating positive employment outcomes for transitioning youth with intellectual disabilities: “When it comes to employment, it’s something that exists in the future. But we need to create that pathway to discover who are you as an individual and who are you as a potential employee” (Inclusive Education Teacher). In this video, people discuss the importance of employment and factors to promote successful employment outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities.
