Announcing the "Year of the Table"
Tables are sacred spaces. Tables are places where we say grace, experience grace, and receive grace. Around tables, we build relationships and forge long-lasting connections. At Christ's Table, we receive the grace-filled gifts that nurture our spirits and sustain our lives.
This year at Wesley Church, we're celebrating the "Year of Table." Throughout the coming year, we plan to provide various opportunities for us to gather around tables (strengthening our relationships) and to gather at Christ's Table (deepening our faith). As we plan activities, make decisions, or launch ministries, we'll be asking two key questions: How does this bring us closer? How does this take us deeper?
We hope you'll join us in many ways at many tables as we seek to strengthen our relationships and deepen our faith in this "Year of the Table!"

Backpack 2022: Tomorrow is the big day!
Our annual Backpack Festival will take place tomorrow, Saturday August 20.
We will be distributing backpacks, socks & underwear, and school supplies from 8 AM to 1 PM.
We look forward to this powerful opportunity to share Christ's love with our community!
Still want to help?
Our Consider signing up for the cleanup crew! After a full morning of setting up, handing out supplies, and connecting with families in our community, it's extremely helpful to have some extra (and well-rested) hands to assist with cleanup. Email us to volunteer.

Welcome to our new Director of Bell and Chimes Choirs, Chris Perfetti!
Chris is excited to be joining the Wesley UMC team as bell choir director. She has more than thirty years of handbell experience as a bell choir member, chime choir parent, and bell choir director. She writes:
"At the end of 2021, I felt God was moving me in a new direction for worship. I attended Palm Sunday service at Wesley UMC. As I was looking on the website for service times, I saw that Wesley was looking for a Handbell Director. I prayed about it, spoke with a member of Wesley church, applied, and as they say, the rest is history. I look forward to many years, new challenges, and new growth for the Bell programs at WUMC. Handbells, to me, play an important role in worship. Not only do they bring Praise, but they offer an opportunity for many hands to bring the Praise."

For more information on the bell and chime choir programs at Wesley, please email the director.

Church Library
Now that we are deep into a fascinating study of the book of Revelation led by Pastor Steph, it might be interesting to revisit (visit?) The Left Behind series, —at least in part— just to contrast that interpretation with the real thing. It is available in the fiction section of the church library. Authors are Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.
Two special new editions of The New Testament have been added to the library’s reference section. The first is the Word on Fire New Testament by Roman Catholic Bishop Robert Baron which contains beautiful, co-ordinated art work and commentaries by well known saints and theologians. And, secondly, there is the New Testament translation done in prose format by Eastern Orthodox scholar David Bentley Hart. These two books do not circulate but you would be well rewarded by spending some time browsing through them to glean new perspectives on what the Bible says. card in the basket near the desk.

Lehigh Valley Outreach Depot
We at the Outreach Depot have ended our moratorium on doing pickups though we are still asking people to bring their items in whenever possible. Availability of volunteers, vacation schedules, and the fact that we are only open twice a week naturally affects the speed with which we can do this. Most needed items right now are dressers, end tables, lamps and small kitchen table sets. Thank you for all you have provided in the past and for your future consideration as well.
