Many of you will be aware that we will shortly welcome our first family to settle in our area, a family of four with a pre-school age child and a young primary-age child. This family will be the first to arrive in Australia under the Federal government’s new Community Sponsorship scheme. 

In breaking news, we have just accepted a second family of three, a couple with an 8 year old child. 

We can provide immediate and short-term accommodation for both families but are needing to secure a longer-term place for each family to stay. For the family of four it is preferable if this is in Byron Shire, as they are being supported by our Ocean Shores group. For the family of three, it is preferable if the accommodation is in Ballina shire, as they are being supported by our Ballina group but we will consider any suggestions.

We will of course look at BR4R standing guarantor for accommodation through estate agents. We also know that many people have private rental accommodation that they do not advertise or might be willing to consider for this type of circumstance.
