DUT MIDLANDS CAMPUS DIRECTOR: DR JOE MOLETE HOSTS THE TALENT INCUBATION AND COACHING PROGRAMME

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Midlands Campus Director: Dr Joe Molete recently hosted a face-to-face Talent Incubation and Coaching programme session themed “Developing High Impact Leaders” at Riverside Campus.

The programme was attended by the DUT staff and students both from Durban and Midlands campuses. Most of the attendees when highlighting their aim and expectations for attending the programme mentioned that they want to gain more knowledge and skills about personal mastery and development, entrepreneurship, become better leaders and use the platform to share their experiences and learn from other people.

THE COUNTDOWN TO THE LAUNCH OF THE DUT BUSINESS SCHOOL HAS BEGUN

The Durban University of Technology (DUT), in alignment with its ENVISION2030 strategy which is to see its people being “entrepreneurial and innovative” will be launching the DUT Business School, under the ambit of the Faculty of Management Sciences, at Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel on Wednesday, 24 August 2022.

The DUT Business School, which commenced operating in the first semester of 2021, offers a variety of Postgraduate Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and various Higher Certificates. Its flagship programme, the Master in Business Administration (MBA), commenced last year, with its first group. Once again this year, the DUT Business School welcomed its second group into the MBA programme.

GUGULETHU MNGOMEZULU MAKES HER MARK IN KARATE

Gugulethu Mngomezulu (23) from Empangeni has made her mark in Karate.

Mngomezulu joined Karate when she was only seven years old. Her father was a boxer so she was highly motivated by him to take part in sporting events. Being trained by her own father was really a cherry on the top.

“My father was my role model and I have always wanted to continue his legacy and in that way I got introduced to Karate as I wanted to use both my hands and legs,” explained Mngomezulu.

INNOBIZ DUT HOSTS CODING FOR KIDS PROGRAMME FOR DISADVANTAGED PRIMARY SCHOOLS

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) through the innobiz DUT Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation invited 20 students from four schools under its Adopt-a-School programme to participate in the Coding for Kids Programme that took place at the innobiz Innovation Hub on Thursday, 11th of August 2022. The Programme was aimed at planting a seed of information technology skills within young children from disadvantaged schools situated around the Indumiso Campus. The invited schools were Funulwazi Primary School, Izwilesizwe Primary School, KwaMpungose Primary School, Inzuzwenhle Primary School; The programme was facilitated by innobiz IT Technician, Sabelo Gumede.

DUT IMPACT

As of 18 July 2022, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) staff and students have physically returned to campus after the relaxation of the public health mandates and the COVID-19 restrictions. To get insight on getting back to the ‘new’ normal, DUT’s Communications team Zanele Mashaba spoke to Dr Celani Nyide.
