DC Health Publishes Monkeypox Data Online
DC Health now publishes an online dashboard of the city’s monkeypox cases, including demographic data such as age, gender, race and ethnicity, and ward of residence of people who test positive and those who receive doses.

Host an Intern Through the CTE Advanced Internship Program
The Career and Technical Education Advanced Internship Program (CTE AIP) is a school-year internship initiative that aims to place qualified high school juniors and seniors into internship opportunities that are specifically aligned to their industry of study. This will mark the second year of this initiative, which will commence on Monday, September 12, 2022 and end on Friday, May 26, 2023. We are actively recruiting host employers within the health science cluster, including biomedical science and biotechnology. Want to Respond to the Opioid Crisis? Fight Stigma, Peer Coach Says
As communities across the country cope with the opioid crisis and the dangers of fentanyl, anyone who wants to help must work to fight stigma and misconceptions. The peer coaches are part of a peer recovery support program launched in early 2020 and funded by DCHA and the DC Department of Behavioral Health. The program supports an initiative of the Medicaid provider AmeriHealth Caritas that aims to connect people to treatment and support services. The coaches are trained in part through a city program to certify peer specialists who are “successful in the recovery process and who help others who are living with mental and/or substance use disorders.”

June 2022 Utilization Report
Highlights: Hospitals submitting June data showed a slight increase in emergency department visits this month going from -28% last month to -27% in June compared to pre-COVID baselines.* Acute care admission, psychiatric admissions and ambulatory care surgeries on the other hand showed minor decreases in volumes. These are reflected in the percent change graphs displayed in Figure 1 below. Two of the hospitals reporting psychiatric admissions saw their lowest volumes over the 15-month period ending June 2022. See Table 7 of the report for details.

Food & Friends Needs Volunteers
Food & Friends, the only community-based organization in the region providing home-delivered medically tailored meals and medical nutrition therapy to our neighbors living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses, are in need of kitchen volunteers to prepare and package meals and delivery volunteers to bring meals to those in need.

DC Forensic Nurse Examiners Provide Medical Exams to Victims
DC Forensic Nurse Examiners (DCFNE) provide medical forensic exams to victims of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and family violence. Sexual assault exams are available to individuals 13 and older, and the window for evidence collection is 120 hours, however exams are available past 120 hours without evidence collection. Intimate partner violence forensic exams are available to individuals 12 years or older who have been assaulted by a former or current intimate partner within the last 30 days. Family violence forensic exams are available to individuals 18 years or older who have been assaulted by a family member within the last 30 days. Forensic exams are free of charge and do not require a police report or proof of citizenship. Patients desiring a forensic exam may walk-in at MedStar Washington Hospital Center 24/7 or call/text the DC Victim Hotline at 844-443-5732. To improve timely diagnosis of Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) at Children's National Hospital's emergency department was through the implementation of an interdisciplinary stroke alert team. Pediatric acute ischemic stroke is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Early recognition and diagnosis of AIS in children remains a challenge; however hyperacute therapies appear safe and effective in children.

Tipping the Pain Scale: A Recovery Documentary Film
The Psychiatric Institute of Washington, in partnership with DC health care stakeholders, invite you and your organizations to honor Overdose Awareness Day and National Recovery Month by viewing Tipping the Pain Scale. This feature documentary film follows individuals grappling with the current systemic failures of how we have dealt with addiction in communities and their journey to develop and employ new, innovative solutions to the problem of addiction through their own stories as they connect to the issues plaguing all communities and the country in an urgent fight to save lives. The launch of the film is August 31 at the Greenberg Theater at 6 pm, with other dates in September.
