Hi, hope you’ve been enjoying this fine summer we have been having. This has to be the driest and sunniest season I have known in a very long time. Let’s hope this glorious weather continues through to the end of the month when the club celebrates it’s Diamond Jubilee. That’s 75 years this club has been in existence, and hopefully at least another 75 years going forward.

You are receiving this email as you have either visited the club, been a past member, or expressed an interest in visiting the club via our website.

Diamond Jubilee Open Weekend

So, the next Open Weekend that is due to take place is on the bank holiday weekend at the end of this month- 27th -28th August. This is when we will be celebrating the clubs 75th Anniversary.

As it is an Open Weekend, there will be no charge for visitors that weekend.

A celebratory cake is being made for the club, and I’m sure there will be some complimentary fizz to celebrate with too. We also hope to have footage of the club from days gone by, so you can see how far the club has come over these 75 years.

Below is an itinerary of what is happening when:

Saturday 27th August:

Movie Night - The film to be shown in the marquee will be Rocketman. For those of you who don’t know what the film is about, then click on the trailer below. This is your opportunity to get dressed up in your finest 70’s/80’s gear and party like its 1979!!

Rocketman (2019) - Official Trailer - Paramount Pictures

We will also be hosting another American Supper from 6:00pm, so please bring with you what you would like to share at the table with our club members. The American Supper in July was a great success, so hopefully we can replicate this again.

The movie will follow the meal in the marquee and we will look to start this at about 8:00pm.

Sunday 28th August:

At some point in the afternoon, and before the BBQ is fired up, we will be celebrating the clubs 75th Diamond Jubilee with a complimentary glass of Prosecco. We will also be cutting the Jubilee Cake that Ann is making for this special occasion.

For the first time ever at the club we will be hosting a live band, in celebration of this momentous occasion. Glen has kindly arranged for the Keller-Tones to play at the club. They are a 1960s style trio performing early Brit R&R and Hamburg sounds. Click on the logo below to view their Facebook page, and the video clip below to hear one of their covers. They are due to come on stage at 7:00pm and play for around an hour and a half. There is no charge to attend this event, as this is being met from club funds.

On the Sunday evening we will be holding a club BBQ, and this will start from 6:00pm. Any food that is left over from the American Supper can supplement the Burgers, Sausages, Chicken and usual fare.

As this is the clubs 75th Anniversary we have decided that there will be no fee for the BBQ.

Now one of my newsletters would not be a newsletter if there wasn’t a survey to complete. So please could I ask that you complete the attached survey. We need to know who is coming on each of the days. As well as who is bringing what to the American Supper, and who is attending the BBQ and have breakfast on the Sunday and Monday mornings.

Start Survey

Thanks for reading this email. Hopefully we will see as many of you as possible at the Diamond Jubilee, after all it doesn’t happen every year. Let’s make this one to remember.

Thanks

Graham
