Welcome Back to School
We currently have 27 elementary teachers in twelve elementary schools across the state of Indiana, which is an increase of one school and three teachers from last school year. This is a blessing from God in an environment where teachers are hard to find.

Peter Cousins, Education Superintendent

Christ on Campus (ACFi)

This year Adventist Christian Fellowship Institute (ACFi) celebrated its 10th anniversary.  This annual conference takes place on a different non-Adventist campus each year. Indiana University in Bloomington was the site of this year's event, which took place July 25-31. ACFi brings together student leaders and public campus minsters to network and learn how to reach the 21.1 million students at non-Adventist universities across the NAD. With one of the largest turnouts ever, attendees were able to select from five different learning tracks, with two additional tracks for online participants.

This year’s theme was Christ on Campus with keynote speaker, revivalist Lee Venden. Lee challenged ACFi to carve out time for a devotional life with Jesus and illustrated the importance of Bible study, prayer, and sharing Christ with colleges, friends, and family. One of the greatest dangers for any student in higher ed, whether on an Adventist campus or not, is allowing the pressures of class deadlines and commitments to crowd out time with Jesus. Lee had a way of presenting this need that connected with the students. “Start your day with Jesus when your day starts,” Lee encouraged.  He explained that your day may not start at 6am, it may be much later, so before you do anything else begin with it with Jesus.

On Wednesday afternoon the conference attendees left the classroom and spread out over the 2,000-acre campus. They took with them games, water, and frozen pops for outreach and reported back with stories of the people they met. Students were introduced to the local ACFi chapter, and new friendships were made. Leaders demonstrated how to start conversations organically and were given examples of outreach to take and duplicate on other campuses.

Restoration International Family Retreat
Sept. 28-Oct. 1

Many of you will remember Tom and Alane Waters, who were our family life speakers at this year's camp meeting.  Please see the information above for more information.
The Indianapolis Central Hispanic church held a week of evangelism focused on health and wellness. It was titled: I Want to Live  Healthy and Happy. From August 6 to 13, Pastor Joaquín Cazares, who is also a medical doctor, provided free medical attention, health talks, and evangelistic presentations. This was a very effective way of helping people. Each day church members brought family and friends to receive medical attention and then gave them the opportunity to listen to the word of God. Sabbath, August 13, was a happy day as two precious souls were baptized. Many more accepted Jesus as their personal Savior and are studying the Bible in order to prepare for baptism and the soon coming of Jesus. Glory be to our God.

Please continue to pray and work so God will continue to add to His Church those who are to be saved (Acts 2:47).

Cicero Women's Ministries Offers Self-defense Class

On Monday, August 8, a group of fifteen people gathered at the Cicero church fellowship for a class in self-defense, sponsored by the Cicero Women's Ministries team, under the leadership of Lillie Patterson and Linda Plough. The program was presented by Jerry Isenhower, a 5th Degree Black Belt Taekwondo instructor. His presentation stressed the importance of being aware of your surroundings, avoiding unsafe situations, and remaining calm when in danger. He then demonstrated methods of self-defense and provided attendees the opportunity to safely practice these methods with one another.

Ramona Trubey, Cicero SDA Church

Sabbath, July 30, was a very high day as members of the Columbus, North Vernon, and Seymour churches gathered together to witness the baptism of Konnor Lewis at Anderson Falls near Columbus. Pastor José Gonzales traveled from Colorado to present a weekend seminar at the Columbus church and to assist with Konnor’s baptism. We praise the Lord for the baptism and for the opportunity to have Pastor José Gonzales back with us again.

Romans 5: 8-9 NKJV

But God demonstrates His own love toward us,

in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood,

we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

Dearest Lord,

Thank you for showing me the loving,

and merciful, kind of God that you are.

And yet, you still died for me, a sinner.

Because of this, I will be saved from wrath and

receive justification by your atoning blood.

No one could ask for more, Father.

Praise your Holy name!

Amen.
