A mother and daughter from Pinner are cycling from London to Paris in aid of Chorleywood-based charity Mission EmployAble.
Date: 7th-11th September
Location: London to Paris
Helene Buijs, age 57, works as an oncology nurse at Northwick Park hospital and is a regular worshipper at Christ church, Chorleywood where she first heard about Mission EmployAble. She has been encouraged in her training for the 335 mile ride by Watford Velo Club, which she joined recently.
She will be accompanied on her ride to Paris this September by her daughter Naomi, age 25, a trained physiotherapist.
Helene was hoping to raise at least £2,000 for Mission EmployAble but has successfully raised to date £2,212, so is now aiming to raise £2,400!
Helene said: " I think what Mission EmployAble is doing in providing training for young adults with learning disabilities is incredible. Naomi and I are really looking forward to making it to Paris, which will take us 4 days. It’s just a shame we can’t do it on a tandem!"
