Water saving tips during a drought

A drought has now been declared for Cornwall which means we all need to do our bit to help save water.

The Environment Agency is reassuring us that water supplies are safe but there are things we can do to conserve water.

South West Water has lots of tips to cut your water use including:

  • Collect rainwater in a water butt
  • Check your home for any leaks
  • Turn off the tap when brushing teeth
  • Add compost or mulch to your garden to help retain moisture
  • Water plants directly at the roots
  • Shower instead of taking a bath

See South West Water’s website for more water saving tips 👇

Pawsome Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs will be helping put youngsters at ease at Cornwall’s principle COVID-19 vaccination centre over the next month.

The paw-some pooches will be at the Royal Cornwall Showground site in Wadebridge over the next four weekends. They have already proved a hit at a number of clinics with many parents saying the dogs made a potentially daunting experience enjoyable for their children.

The therapy dogs will be appearing at the Wadebridge site on:

  • Saturday 13 August: 9.30am – 4pm
  • Saturday 20 August: 9.30am – 6pm
  • Saturday 27 August: 9.30am – 6pm
  • Saturday 3 September: 9.30am – 4pm

The clinic is open to both bookings as well as walk-ins.
All children over the age of 5 can get vaccinated against COVID-19.

If you can’t make the above clinics, you can book a vaccination appointment for their children online, or just walk in at their nearest walk-in clinic. To find out the details of your nearest walk-in site visit the Grab a Jab website
