1. Offering Support for the CIHR Transforming Health  with INtegrated Care (THINC) Implementation Science Teams Competition

The Alberta SPOR SUPPORT Unit is available to provide various consultations and supports for the upcoming CIHR THINC Implementation Science Teams Opportunity. The THINC funding opportunity focuses on improving our understanding of how to implement, evaluate, adapt, and/or spread/scale evidence-informed integrated care policies and interventions that encompass intersectoral collaborations within and/or beyond the formal health delivery system in order to advance the Quadruple Aim and health equity (sometimes known as the Quintuple Aim).

To support applicants, the Alberta SPOR SUPPORT Unit can provide expertise in implementation science, patient engagement, research design, and health data access and analysis. For more information please contact

4. Public Perspectives on Data: How Engagement is Shaping the Work of Health Data Research Network Canada

5. Studying the Implementation of Virtual Care During the COVID-19 Pandemic with Patient Partners and Stakeholders

6. Online Journal Club - What Makes a Good Rapid Review?
September 15, 2022 | 7:30 am MT

Rapid evidence reviews have emerged as a key form of evidence synthesis in the COVID-19 response, but they have limitations. McMaster University is organizing a series of 90-minute sessions for healthcare consumers (patients, carers and the public) to learn how to recognize good health evidence. These free sessions will take a small group discussion-based approach to understanding rapid reviews, and the strengths and limitations of their findings.

7. Masterclass Highlighting New Approaches to Supporting Rapid Learning and Improvement

8. Foundations of Knowledge Translation Course

Foundations of KT is an online course focused on the fundamentals of implementing change using best practices in KT. This is a self-directed introductory course in KT designed for those who need to build their working knowledge of what KT entails. 9. Specialist Knowledge Translation Training

The Specialist Knowledge Translation Training (SKTT™) workshop was developed on the premise that scientists, practitioners, and educators are agents of change in creating research impact, promoting research utilization, and ensuring that research findings reach the appropriate audiences. This course was designed to teach the unique skillset that surrounds KT practice. The course is equally suited to health scientists looking to build KT skills, KT professionals, practitioners, educators, and decision makers in community-based organizations and government. 10. GRADE Workshop: Registration is Now Open
September 27, 2022 | 9:00 am - 4:30 pm ET | In-Person Queens University, Kingston, ON


The GRADE approach (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation) reflects ‘best practice’ in terms of clinical guideline development and has been endorsed by organizations across the globe. The 1-day GRADE workshop, led by the Director of the JBI Adelaide Grade Center, Associate Professor Zachary Munn, is designed for systematic reviewers, guideline developers and others wanting to learn more about GRADE methodology, particularly the creation of Summary of Findings tables and Evidence Profiles. The workshop includes information on the theory of GRADE along with hands-on activities.

12. StrategEase: The HOW Of Creating Sustainable Change
Launching September 20, 2022


A completely updated and streamlined version of our foundational course, Designing for Implementation. Designing for Implementation is a comprehensive course that walks you through the process of defining WHO needs to change and WHAT they need to do differently, assessing barriers and facilitators, and then selecting HOW you will support them to change - which we now refer to as the StrategEase Pathway.

15. Knowledge Synthesis Grants

SSHRC and Women and Gender Equality Canada have launched this Knowledge Synthesis Grants competition to mobilize social sciences and humanities research to examine and synthesize existing knowledge on gender-based violence. Grant holders will identify research gaps and opportunities and their work will inform and guide policy-makers and service providers contributing to ensuring a violence-free Canadian society.

17. CommuniKIDS Free Pediatric Plain Language Results Summary Template

CommuniKIDS, a freely accessible trial results template was developed to help researchers share clinical trial results back to participating youth and their families. The editable CommuniKIDS template comes in English or French and comes with instructions as well as a “tip sheet” that provides additional guidance on how to use the template.
