Influencing sun-safety attitudes

Penn State researchers are testing social media interventions aimed at young women to encourage them to avoid UV exposure, potentially preventing skin cancer.

Heat threatens women farmers

As crops fail in the rising heat in South Asia, men are leaving rural areas for work in cities. Women are then left to tend to the farming in increasingly dangerous conditions.
An NPR interview discusses record-high temperatures across the U.S., which scientists say are due to climate change and are causing people to suffer under intense heat warnings and heat advisories.

Humans can't endure high humidity 

The maximum temperature humans can endure is lower than previously thought — about 87°F at 100% humidity — even for young, healthy subjects. 
With the support of an IEE seed grant, Meetpal Kukal and his team are assessing humid cities in the northeast U.S. to demonstrate locally relevant evidence of urban greening vs. microclimate benefits to better inform and orient greening efforts to enhance urban climate resiliency.
