Seasonal Qigong - Spleen

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine it's the spleen that's prominent this season.

There are physical as well as emotional aspects to the spleen season that we should work with.

The spleen, in conjunction with the stomach, absorbs and controls energy taken in during eating and digesting. It transforms food into Qi and blood and transports them throughout our body.

In spite of the heatwave start on these following qigong exercises :-)

  • Spleen strengthening exercises, from the 18 Form Shibashi:Spleen Qigong with Mark

“Hold Up A Ball In Front Of Shoulder”
“Turn Body And Look Up At The Moon”
  • From Shaolin Qigong:
    “Big Windmill”
    “Plucking Start Change Galaxies”
    “Big Turning of the Cosmos”.
  • Walking is great exercise. Just 10 to 30 minutes a day increases longevity.

Emotional energy to work on now:

Vent the spleen of its unfavourable emotions of worry, obsessiveness, repetitive thinking, lamenting and over pensiveness.

Favourable actions and emotions to stimulate at this time include; openness (to accepting life's ups and downs), receptiveness and fairness.

We will work on the lung energy and more at the online live qigong lessons when they start up again in September.

The bi-weekly lessons including a breakdown of the self-healing work will be uploaded on the web and emailed to you.

Everyone else can just google the titles ;-)

Practicing your breathing, and keep well,

Mark
