HeroBuilder Bible Camp

TL;DR = Thank you to all who donated their time, talents, and treasures so that we could teach 22 kids that Jesus is their Savior, greater than any superhero!

We had a fantastic LEGO & Superhero based Bible camp this week! We maxed out our attendance in July and had to close registration. All together, we had 22 children attend the 4 days.

Day 1: We learned that Jesus is unlike any other superhero. He is all-powerful God who used his powers to be perfect for us and die on the cross and rise from the dead - all to take away our sins and make us right with God.

Day 2: We learned that God doesn't have an origin story, unlike all the superheroes. In fact, God doesn't ever change, and he makes sure that his Word (the Bible) doesn't change either. He even wrote down our whole story and made sure that we all have a happy ending!

Plus, Spider-Man swung by!

Day 3: We recognized that we can't go back in time to fix our mistakes. Instead, at just the right time, Jesus lived a perfect life for us with no mistakes. He gets rid of all our flaws and makes us perfect!

Day 4: We had to ask the hard question of whether we are a hero or a villain in our own stories. Because of our sins, we are villains. But Jesus came, took away our sin, and gave us a new identity as his perfect child.

A tremendous thank you for all our amazing volunteers who worked so hard to make this happen. Thank you everyone so much for making sure that we were able to share these wonderful biblical truths about our God and have the kids go home knowing and telling others: God is our Superhero!

The Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

Who Can Show Us Any Good?

For the Christian, it is hard - sometimes near impossible - to see any good in our sin-stained, fallen world. Yet God shows us good things such as our status as ones who belong to him, clothed with his perfection, made right by what he has done for us. Lord, show us something good from you today and help us show that to others as well.

The Bible readings for this coming Sunday and Monday are:
Jeremiah 23:23-29
Psalm 4
Hebrews 12:1-13
Luke 12:49-53

The Sunday morning worship service will livestream at 10:30 am on both Facebook.com/lotvlayton and Youtube.com/lotvlayton

"I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD.'"
