this summer we are inviting you to
walk. read. write.

This summer families can take part in our creative writing contest by participating in our StoryWalk along Main Street. Stop by the library anytime between July and August to access our StoryWalk map, once completed participants have the opportunity to create their own story based on the book featured along Main Street. Readers can write a full length piece, poem or even illustrated interpretation; all forms of creativity will be accepted.
Participants can submit their final pieces by email or can stop by the youth services department to grab a creative writing journal. 1 per family while supplies last. Use the journals to take notes, expand upon ideas, or to doodle. Complete your final draft and drop them off at your convenience. Prizes will be awarded in different age brackets so everyone will have the opportunity to shine. So, won't you plan to walk. read. and write with us?

MONDAY AUGUST 15  @ 3:30PM

The wrack line is the ocean’s supplier of lost things! It’s where seaweed, shells & other treasures are left behind by high tide. It’s also the perfect place to find inspiration & that is why local writer Amy Bowers is using it as inspiration for this creative writing experience, where kids in grades 1-4 can compose their own stories about lost things. We’ll use a combination of reading, writing & hands-on activities to create our own stories, which would be perfect submissions for the Flotsam Creative Writing Contest.
