It is my pleasure to announce that Rev. Nate Barefield will be assuming the position of SCNYI President for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fiscal year. Pastor Nate has been serving as the youth pastor at Columbia First Church for about four years and recently has also assumed administrative duties during the pastor transition at Columbia First. In the past, he has served as District NYI President for the North Carolina District and therefore comes with a great wealth of experience and knowledge. This transition was precipitated due to the resignation of Rev. Martin Burns.
Pastor Martin has accepted a lead pastor position in Indiana. Heather, his wife will also be employed as an administrator. We will greatly miss Pastor Martin Burns and Heather. Pastor Burns has led the District NYI in such a great way, with great enthusiasm, and joy, and in such a Christ-like manner. We will miss him and all his family here in South Carolina.
I ask to continue to pray for both servants of God as they move forward in being obedient to the call and serving God in building His kingdom. I also ask that you continue to encourage young people to participate in the great work of the SCNYI.

NAZARENE YOUTH CONFERENCE
I want to thank all youth leadership and pastors for your patience in regard to NYC. The transition to a new SC District President, myself (Nate Barefield), and a new NYC Coordinator (Andy Barnette) has resulted in reevaluating some of the NYC plans so that we can best prepare the SC District for an amazing NYC experience at the best possible price.
Due to the transition of leadership, we have extended the initial registration deadline for NYC to October 1st. All the updated details of the trip and deadlines are included in the extensive information packet attached to this email. Thank you Andy for taking the lead and helping with this!
Pastor Bill Harmon is the new SC Quizzing Director. Please contact him if you have any questions about starting a quizzing team this year. This is an excellent opportunity for discipleship in your youth group. The first quiz date is set for Saturday, September 17th at West Columbia First.
