Niven Garden Expansion
We are finally able to proceed with this development which will add about 12 plots to the Moyle Park garden.
Niven Expansion planning meeting Sunday 1-2 PM
The long-awaited Niven expansion is ready to move to the next phase. We’d like to have a discussion with the interested people at the Niven Site on Sunday Aug 14 to develop a schedule and review the building plan.
The overview is:
- Order the wood (Done)
- Develop a site plan (done)
- Check for underground wires (requested)
- Dig and set fence posts - either by hand or contracted (TBD on Sunday)
- Build boxes with landscaping fabric between soil and gravel.
- Order and spread soil.
- Plant (maybe plan on holding off on this part until the spring)
If you can attend on Sunday that would be great, if you are interested but can’t attend, please notify (info@ykgardencollective.org) of your interest in helping.

The gardens are looking great (but they always do this time of year).
The Haskaps are done, the Saskatoons and Raspberries are in full production.
Please remember to record your donations. Part of your commitment to using the plot is to donate 25% of your produce. The places that accept donations are listed on the web site.
Don’t forget to thin your carrots and beets, possibly other things as well.
If you are unable to harvest your produce, please let your site manager know and they might be able to find someone to do that for you.
