Story From Our Community (Center for Action and Contemplation)
The more I embody Spirit and trust my True Self, the more life guides me in the right direction. One of the most challenging -- and rewarding -- parts was forgiving the unconscious acts of violence that “I” and “us” have both endured and created. I am personally responsible for the world and I have the power to change this with compassion, forgiveness, and understanding. I finally feel a sense of belonging on all levels. We are part of this collective consciousness, and still have work to do. --Nienke J.

Upcoming Indoor Holy Eucharist Service

It’s time to make a joyful noise again. Will you join us?
The choir will have its first rehearsal of the season on Wednesday, August 24th from 7:00-8:30PM in the church sanctuary and return to worships service on Sunday, September 11th. On that Sunday the choir will perform “Oh, God, Our Hearts Were Shattered”, which was written to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Joining many voices to create one voice in the praise of God is a very powerful and moving experience. Don’t let thoughts like “I don’t know how to read music,” or “my voice isn’t good enough or strong enough..” stop you from experiencing this special type of worship.
I am proud to say that even with the difficulties of Covid, we were able to add three new members to the choir last year. My goal is to add six new members this year! We are deeply in need of adding men, so we can be a more balanced choir. Ladies, don’t worry. We will take you in, as well!
If you have ever thought about singing in the choir, I ask that you consider coming to our rehearsal on August 24th. Come. take us for a “test drive” and I’m sure you will enjoy the ride!

August will be here soon! We will have another opportunity to deliver blessings bags to the Redwood Gospel Mission on August 14th.
Please join Betsy & Rich Randolph making these bags for those who will be blessed by them!
You can bring your blessings bags to church and drop them off in the box in the narthex or you can drop them off at the Randolph's home.
If you’ve forgotten how to make up a Blessing Bag please look for the sample in the narthex and a list of contents on a short sheet of paper. You can always call me on my cell phone (408)981-2024 or send me an email at Rjurny@gmail.com.
Let’s keep up the good work. There are so many homeless and hungry people we can help in this simple way. We never know whose life we may change with this simple meal and words of encouragement. We may not be a big congregation, but we certainly have big hearts and we’re willing to help.
Thank you everyone! Betsy Randolph
You may deliver bags to:

The Art of Needlework at St Patrick's
|
|
|
Our church contains the quiet beauty of the needlework of many hands.
The church kneelers represent the devotion of 37 women of our parish, all of whom are no longer with us as parishioners with the exception of our own Naomi Holm. A generation of gifted and dedicated women has moved or passed.
Yet not passed unnoticed! We have the stunning results of their craft.
Do you know the location of the kneeler that is in the photo above? Many of the kneelers have the same design but every third or fourth kneeler is individually designed, rich with symbols of our faith.
Over time the Education Ministry will share with a new generation of parishioners the story of the gross point embroidery and the stained glass windows, a marvel and gift from our early parishioners.
May we carry their spirit forward.

Every year, Northern California is impacted by major wildfires, floods, and other disasters, frequently impacting our churches and congregations. In the initial phases of a disaster, the bishop, clergy and congregations provide generous financial support (often in the form of gift cards) to help victims meet immediate needs such as food, gas, and medications. As disasters transition from rescue to recovery to rebuilding, victims need everyday goods to adapt to temporary housing while homes and lives are being rebuilt.
Help those affected by disasters with Project ReStart, please click HERE to learn more.

“Cranes for Ukraine” was held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church to stand in solidarity with the country and people of Ukraine. This special event of folding cranes, the symbol of peace, was sponsored by the Japanese American Citizens League in partnership with St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Sebastopol World Friends and Sister Cities Santa Rosa and Sonoma Associations. Henry Kaku, the origami master and instructor for 26 eager learners, made the craft appear quite simple, as long as the helpers were nearby. In addition to sending the finished cranes to Sebastopol’s sister city, Chyhyryn, a donation of $505 was raised to help support the thousands of refugees that are now living in Chyhyryn.
Ron Tajii, introduced the event by giving a short history of the dedicated work of the JACL for the protection and advancement of civil rights for all victims of injustice and bigotry, including the people of Ukraine. Steve Levenberg of the Sebastopol World Friends described the supportive relationship between Sebastopol and Chyhyryn and the urgent need for support of the refugees who come from different areas of Ukraine.

“Cranes for Ukraine” was a most positive expression of solidarity for the people of Ukraine and was enjoyed by all who participated.
* Special thank you to, Grace Cheung-Schulman, who took & provided these amazing photos!
