2nd Saturday Downtown Art Walk

Saturday Aug 13 from 5-7pm

Art in the form of knitting by Marca Davies of Port Angeles will be our featured guest for the Second Saturday Art Walk this month. Marca has gathered skill and experiences from many sources throughout her 61 years of nonstop knitting. From her early work in a Hmong refugee camp in Thailand she learned knitting from Finnish Nurses who introduced her to a speedy method to apply to her Fair Isle projects. Online resources such as Ravelry.com have given her a wealth of insight and resources to draw inspiration.

Many of the pieces on display will feature Cabled Fiber’s own Distracted by Yarn line of independently dyed yarn which draw their color inspiration from locations and objects of Olympic Peninsula. We are really please how well our yarn has taken off in the last few years. From Lake Crescent to Lake Quinault, from Lavender to Mountain Lupin, our yarns can now be seen throughout the country in sweaters, socks, cowls and more. Our color range just keeps expanding with the color inspiration all around us.

The Clallam County Fair is Next Week!
Enter Your Creations for Ribbons and $$$

It’s time for the 2022 Clallam County Fair – Blue Ribbon Dreams in Boots & Jeans is here August 18-21. Cabled Fiber & Yarn is proud to be sponsoring the Home Arts (& Hobbies) Building at the Fair this year so we’ll be there the whole time with great give aways and information on the upcoming Pacific Northwest Fiber Exposition (Oct 1-2, 2022) and the Fiber Art Exhibit at Studio Bob’s that runs from September 10 to October 1.

Do you have something to enter in the Fair? If it’s Knitting or Crochet, Spinning, Weaving or Felting you can bring your items to Cabled Fiber before 4pm on August 13^th or to the Home Arts Building of the Fair Grounds (Blue Gate) from noon – 6pm on Sunday August 14^th and 9am-3pm on Monday August 15^th. Home Arts Entry Forms and the Exhibitor Guide is available online.

The fair building hours are 9am-9pm Thursday-Saturday and 9am-7pm on Sunday.

Applications are now available for a Fiber Art Exhibition to be held during the month of September

The non-juried exhibit, sponsored by Cabled Fiber & Yarn will be held September 10 through October 1, and is an extension of the North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival, held annually in Sequim beginning in October.

Artists may submit up to four pieces for a $4.00 per piece hanging fee (or submit four items for $12.00).

The Exhibition at Studio Bob's gallery will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday September 10, noon to 3 p.m. Sunday September 11,

Application forms are available at Cabled Fiber & Yarn, 125 W. First St or the PDF Form and can be downloaded from the website.

Art pieces may be brought to Cabled Fiber from August 31 to September 8th from 11am to 5pm or to Studio Bobs or Friday September 9 from 5-7pm.
