PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello SJS Parents,

The 2022-23 school year is here! The last few days our teachers and staff have been on campus receiving training, collaborating, and getting ready to invite a new batch of students in to their classrooms. What I can say from the energy around the building, is that we are going to have an amazing school year.

This coming Sunday we are kicking off the year with our back to school mass (11:30 am) and BBQ immediately following mass. All are welcome to attend! Please scroll down the the FSA section to see more details.

As a reminder, the updated website has all the information a current SJS family should need. Please visit www.stjamesschoolah.org under Current Families.

I can say on behalf of the entire SJS staff, we are so excited to have the kids back in our building. We are looking forward to continuing our mission of developing the students of SJS to be young men and women of faith and intellect.

It's a great day to be a Bulldog!

First Day of School

We are so excited to have your kids in the building next week! Below are some quick reminders to prepare for the first day of school.

The first day of school is half day from 8:20 am - 11:30 am. There will not be lunch service and before & after care services will not be provided. Drop off will occur from 8:00 am - 8:20 am.

Arrival

  • Students should be dropped off between 8:00 and 8:20. Homeroom begins promptly at 8:20am.
  • Students go directly into the school building
  • Please drop off students along the west side of the school. Pull up to the fire hydrant. Students exit from the passenger side of the vehicle. Staff members and student assistants aide in helping students out of their vehicles and escorting to the building. All vehicles depart using the north exit onto Arlington Heights Road
  • Students coming from the east side of Arlington Heights Road should cross at the traffic light. Staff members greet students and escort them across Arlington Heights Road. Entrance can be obtained through the north doors.
Dismissal
  • Riders: Families are to park stadium style in the west parking lot. Students are supervised by staff members as they make their way to parked vehicles. Parents may come to the sidewalk or portico to meet their children. Once all students have boarded, a staff member signals vehicles to begin egress from the lot, row by row. Families who must leave quickly may park in the north lot, retrieve their child and drive slowly along the driveway.
  • Walkers: Students who walk home must use crosswalks as they cross streets. Staff members supervise all crosswalks adjacent to the school building.

Jubilation 2022: Embrace

The Annual Jubilation at St. James Gala is a staple of the fabric of the St. James Parish & school. This year we will be celebrating our 28th annual gala, back in person for the first time since 2019. Jubilation is recognized as St. James Parish's largest annual fundraiser. Since 1994 St. James Jubilation has provided financial support to a variety of impactful humanitarian services, school improvements, as well as offered financial aid to area families seeking Catholic education.
