Notice of an Appeal (J. Spencer) to be heard by the Disciplinary Panel on Monday 15 August

12/08/2022 @ 12:00:00

9.30 am - Jamie Spencer

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority will convene on Monday 15 August 2022 to hear an Appeal brought by Jamie Spencer against the decision of the Stewards at Sandown Park to suspend him for 2 days for careless riding following the Madri Exceptional Handicap Stakes (Class 3).

An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving FRANTASTIC, placed third, ridden by Frankie Dettori, CONSERVATIVE (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Jamie Spencer, and STEVENSON, placed fifth, ridden by Charles Bishop. Spencer was suspended for 2 days for careless riding for switching his mount left-handed making contact with and carrying FRANTASTIC off its intended line, which in turn caused the colt to bump STEVENSON on the outside.
