Hello there, beautiful soul!

Hope this message finds you well.

OK, here goes a confession. Together with number of our colleagues, we've thoroughly pressure tested the Voting App. In process of doing so - it broke. A little here, a little there. But enough to not make it pass QA (Quality Assurance) stage sign off. Therefore about two weeks were allocated to iron out these concerns so that we can celebrate the Fund9 with collective voting experience as intended. Safely and lively. I'm as equally excited about voting start as you are. Meanwhile, so much has been happening this week - amazing community events - catch some of the recordings listed further below.

Let's dive into what's the latest then.

Who broke the Voting App? We did.

Following thorough final testing of voting app process, QA (Quality Assurance) has resurfaced few elements that need further attention to resolve in order to have a sound voting round. With heavy consideration, Cardano's Project Catalyst Fund9 vote start has been pushed back by ~2 weeks.

We understand that everyone's eagerly anticipating voting that highlights months of phenomenal work by all involved. Decision wasn't taken lightly. However, security & integrity of the the vote is paramount north star. Your understanding & patience is highly appreciated and valued as issues get sorted.

I've seen two most common questions floating around or being asked directly about. So here's some extra context.

  • Could you share more specifics what's been the issue?
    • Namely the front end of Voting App was not correctly and properly communicating information from servicing stations loading data. For fair voting - the information presented needs to be as clear as possible but also function as expected. Number of functionalities were not doing that exactly which would lead to a lot of confusion. In one of the upcoming town halls we will go over release notes together and highlight material changes between last voting round and current one! Stay tuned.
  • Will there be an extended period for voter registration?
    • Snapshot was point in time. It would increase complexity of merging and managing an additional snapshot. Some go through great lengths of moving funds around to consolidate voting power or cold wallet access, etc - then regroup after. It's more of a practical obstacle. It also allows the team to focus on finalizing QA of voting app itself than diverging attention to run another snapshot and merging the two. Also, did you know that registration was open non stop since last snapshot in Fund8 in Spring? Appreciate the understanding.

So what does the adjusted timeline look like? We're taking it day by day - but new tentative schedule looks like this:

  • Aug 4, 2022 @ 11:00 UTC - SNAPSHOT (already took place)
  • Aug 25, 2022 @ 11:00 UTC - VOTING START (24 hour soft launch when things 'may' break)
  • Aug 26, 2022 - VOTING START (full on)
  • Sep 8, 2022 @ 11:00 UTC - VOTING END
  • ± Sep 14, 2022 - TALLYING & RESULTS
Assess QA Results Are In

Here is the first output from Assess QA stage for Fund9. It does not make any reference to rewards yet. PA rewards are known post funding as there is dependency on outcome. Nor does it include vPA agreement rate calculations yet (still in the works). However, you are able to find final Voting App ranking going into Fund9 vote.

1️⃣ First document: https://bit.ly/F9-vPA-Aggregate

  • ⭐️ Proposal Scores (Voting App data)
  • ⭐️ PA Assessments (Outcome + breakdown)
  • ⭐️ vPA Worksheets
  • ⭐️ And a lot more...

2️⃣ Second document: https://bit.ly/F9-QA-Feedback-Loop

  • ⭐️ Includes actual feedback from vPAs (+ Proposers) to PAs
  • ⭐️ This is new document introduced this fund to help kick start accountability and feedback loop between vPA and PA cohorts
Please, read instructions tab in both to help you navigate through the datasets.

While PA level petitions aren't a feasible component at the moment, there are great strides being made by community work groups to align on vPA Resolution Process where vPAs can challenge their disagreement with the outcome of the process itself. Outcome can impact their rewards and reputation. However, experiments to challenge vPA work have already been attempted and will likely iterate further. You can dive into that draft document here. The most exciting part? The petition/resolution process is entirely community owned that produces set of recommendations to implement.

Any doubts? Suggestions? Let community know via PA/vPA telegram chat or discord channel here.

Thank you for your hard work and open mind as we navigate the process together.

Community Impact Generation Lead

Both Cardano4Climate & Sustainable ADA were funded in Project Catalyst Fund8 to create a decentralized lead generation model to help onboard more impact-driven businesses and cross-chain projects to Cardano and incentivize community members to take part in the process.

We are using the power of the community to generate leads to onboard impact companies & cross chain collaboration opportunities for Cardano. Community members will leverage their network and expertise to onboarding new leads and be incentivized for their work. The goal of this work will be to reach more companies and projects to establish a collaboration with Cardano and its ecosystem.

Group is calling all Cardano community members to participate in this opportunity to be incentivized for helping onboard new impact projects to the Cardano ecosystem.

Stay in touch and follow the process!
