Dear catechetical coordinator and core team members,

Peace be with you.

The annual Catechetical Awareness Weekend is happening soon on 20 and 21 August 2022.

The theme for this year’s Catechetical Awareness Weekend is “Here I am, send me”. In line with OfC’s catechetical theme of the year (Being Sent), this theme hopes to inspire a new generation of catechists to journey with their candidates and help them to “mature in the Christian life and journey toward God” (Directory for Catechesis, 113c). It is also a callout to those who may be discerning this vocation to respond to the call of the mission.

We invite you to run the recruitment drives on that weekend via your parish’s channels of communications to create awareness of the catechetical ministries among your parishioners.

We recommend you:

  • Start the recruitment/awareness campaign e.g. Pre-School, Children and Youth, CGS, RCIA, etc. via social media and by tapping onto other available channels of communions.
  • Conduct an information session at a stipulated time after the drive.
  • Interview interested candidates together with your parish priest, SD and/or core team members.
To help you with your efforts, we are pleased to provide the following materials. All materials are included in the Catechetical Awareness Weekend 2022 folder:
