Dear GHRSST community, 

While we are wrapping up the proceedings of the GHRSST XXIII science team meeting, we got some interesting news for you: calls for contributions, upcoming workshops and courses and two publications of the GHRSST community.
In particular, the GHRSST data specifications (GDS) have been updated and it is now possible to download the version 2.1.

Call for contributions: Special Issue of the Journal Remote Sensing “Advances in Retrieval, Operationalization, Monitoring and Application of Sea Surface Temperature II”

The GHRSST community is invited to submit papers to the Special Issue of the Journal Remote Sensing (IF 4.848, ISSN 2072-4292) entitled “Advances in Retrieval, Operationalization, Monitoring and Application of Sea Surface Temperature II”.
Early career scientists are encouraged to publish their results on this special issue!
Special discounts will be offered to the GHRSST23 conference participants.
 
Please submit your paper following the journal’s guidelines on the online submission system of the journal. Remember to select ‘Advances in Retrieval, Operationalization, Monitoring and Application of Sea Surface Temperature II’ in the box ‘Special Issue’.

The final and last deadline to submit your paper is 15 October 2022.

After submission of your paper, please send an email to kelsey.zhang@mdpi.com with the details of your submission (title of the paper, authors and abstract).

Call for contributions: Remote Sensing special issue "VIIRS 2011–2021: Ten Years of Success in Earth Observations"

The GHRSST community is invited to publish in the Remote Sensing special issue "VIIRS 2011–2021: Ten Years of Success in Earth Observations".
 
If you produce, archive, or use any satellite SST data (not necessarily limited to VIIRS; data of other sensors helping place it in context of other missions, past, present and future), you are welcome to contribute.

Deadline for manuscript submissions is 15 December 2022.

University of Reading online classes in Meteorology Climate

The University of Reading is offering online classes in Meteorology and Climate in:
  • Fundamentals of Meteorology (September to December 2022)
  • Statistics for Weather and Climate Science (September to December 2022)
  • Tropical Meteorology (January to March 2023)
  • Climate Services and Climate Impact Modelling (January to February 2023)
These are suitable for professional meteorologists, consultants, STEM students, graduates, academics seeking to improve their range of skills and knowledge and keen amateurs.

3rd International ISFRN workshop: Pre-registration now open!

The pre-registration to the next workshop on SST Fiducial Reference Measurement Radiometer Network (ISFRN) is now open!

The workshop will take place on 8-9 September 2022, but you can register now.

New on the GHRSST shelf: Introductory booklet on GHRSST SST products for users

"Sea surface temperature: An introduction to users on the set of GHRSST products" a short booklet for all SST users is now available for download: https://zenodo.org/record/6957658

GDS 2.1 now available!

The Recommended #GHRSST Data Specification (GDS), version 2.1. is now available!
The GHRSST Data Processing Specification (GDS) provides a detailed technical specification for producing GHRSST L2, L3 and L4 products.

This new version has been updated by Jean- Francois Piolle, Ed Armstrong, Wen-Hao Li, and Gary Corlett.
