Davines: Rooted in Sustainable Beauty
With their focus on looking after people and planet, luxury beauty brand Davines is a perfect fit with our own brand values at HarrimanSteel, so when they recently approached us to work with them, we leapt at the opportunity.
Earlier this month, four (slightly smug) members of the HS team jumped on a plane to the Davines Group ‘Village’ in sunny Parma, Italy, to meet the client and learn more about what they’re about, and how we can help them.
Over an area measuring 77,000 sqm, the Village includes its own extensive gardens, laboratories and the European Regenerative Organic Center from where they continue to research the enormous benefits of regenerative organic agriculture and soil health. Ultimately, their goal is to do their best for the world through a potent combination of beauty, ethics and sustainability – no mean feat.
Watch this space to see how the HS/Davines relationship blossoms...

Sleeping Beauties? CitizenM launches new hotel with revealing c

What is it?
Let's be honest: no-one looks their best when they're passed out in bed. Whether you're a dribbler, a spreader, a snorer or a thumb-sucker, revealing how you look when you're fast asleep in bed, is about as intimate as it gets. Hence why KesselsKramer's campaign to mark the opening of CitizenM's most recent hotel in London's Victoria was so striking.
Photographer Amber Pinkerton got up close and personal with a diverse group of 'Citizens' shooting them from below – from the perspective of a pillow – while they napped on a perspex bed. The resulting 98 portraits, showing their contorted, sleeping faces, each adorned a window of the new hotel.
Lydia's take
I was taken aback by the sheer scale of this work with people’s faces planted window by window over 98 windows and seven floors of the hotel. Its vibrant boldness at first seemed quite jarring, but looking closer, the diverse sea of people doing the one thing everyone does whilst staying at a hotel, hits right on the nose and makes CitizenM a hotel I’ll always remember.
Each portrait is comically familiar, and the different scenario and story each portrait has to tell is captivating. It's a fun, witty and a realistic perspective on what goes on behind closed doors.

By 2050, one in six people will be over 65, so the Swiss government has launched a 'time bank' initiative. It allows people to earn social security credits by volunteering in care homes. These credits can then be redeemed for their own care in later years.

ummer Party
Due to our pal Covid, the HS team was long overdue a decent party. So, earlier this month, we jumped on the Thalys down to a big old maison outside Paris for a bit of team R&R. And a lot of food. And drink.

Sun, sea and socks? As part of the Boskalis Beach Cleanup Tour, armed with binbags, five of the team combed 5km of beach. Topping the list of weird finds were a single sock, a teabag, a Christmas decoration, a load of tampons and a dead bird. Nice.
