Children's Summer Program

On the 1st through 3d Sunday each month, children of grade-school age have their own program, with games, crafts and perhaps some surprises.  Usually, the children join their families for about the first 20 minutes of meeting, and then leave for their program with their adult leaders. They will be returned to their parents at the rise of meeting.

Junior Meeting - On the 4th Sunday each month, there's a treasured opportunity for children in grades 1- 5 to meet together in worship, accompanied by a few adult Friends.  Meeting begins at 10:00, either in the memorial garden, or in the white house if needed for inclement weather.

For the younger children, ages 0 through kindergarten, the Nursery opens from 10 a.m. to 11:30 each Sunday in the white house.

Coming Right Up

Tomorrow:  Poem as Portal

Saturday August 13 from 10 to noon

On Zoom

"Poetry rises when we need fresh words to recall the mystery of ourselves and reach across to the mystery of each other. “ ~ Krista Tippett

Friends take a single poem where they need it to go, and from that new perspective discover what had been hidden.  Join thoughtful, respectful seekers in new explorations, and share in the harvest.  If you are not already on Judith Goedeke’s monthly mailing list, contact her through Breeze to receive this month's poem, queries, quotes and Zoom link.  Everyone joining in should bring a journal or other materials to use during time for quiet reflection.  You are warmly invited.

Sunday:  Meeting for Worship for the Conduct of Business

This Sunday, August 14, is the second Sunday of the month.  We will meet as a community to tend to our business at about 12:15, following Meeting for Worship and "Meeting for Eating" (potluck/ lunch at the meetinghouse or at home.) Everyone is invited to participate. The Zoom link for these meetings is always the same as the link for Sunday morning meeting for worship. Check here for links.

Committees - please be sure to consult with the clerk if you have business to bring before the meeting, and to send any written reports to the recording clerk.  The agenda and reports will appear (magically?) in this in this folder.  If some things are missing when you check the first time, please check  again before Meeting for Business.  It is August, after all -- one of the times when we organize our business a bit more slowly.

Conversation with Daquanna

Following up on Developments at Baltimore Yearly Meeting Annual Sessions

Daquanna Harrison writes:  Thank you to all who have contacted me about my message concerning BYM's Annual Meeting and our overall work towards being an anti-racist community. I welcome you to join me on August 25, between 5:30 and 7pm to discuss my perspective on what occurred, what it may mean for our wider community, and what AFM may be able to do to support BYM moving to be a more anti-racist community. You can reach me at daquanna.harrison@gmail.com but I would prefer most questions during the Zoom call.  Join at this link on Zoom.  The meeting ID will be 870 1356 2026 and the Passcode: 096941.

Adelphi Friends Meeting's Commitment to Anti-Racism

The Change Group is bringing us a revised version of a statement on anti-racism.  This will be on the Business Meeting agenda for reflection and discussion.  No decision is anticipated yet, as we discern where we are on making such a statement of commitment.

North Pacific Yearly Meeting

Minute in  Support of Indigenous People

What steps can a Quaker meeting take as it comes to terms with the way this nation was settled and born, and the wrongs done by settler/colonists - including Quaker settler/colonists - particularly to the Indigenous peoples whose lives, homelands, and culture were taken as this continent was colonized?

Consider this minute approved by North Pacific Yearly Meeting in July.
