the word: Persnickety about money? Join the finance team.
by: Karen Dollar, Saint David's treasurer
Six years ago when I said yes to being the treasurer at Saint David’s, I knew almost nothing about how to be a treasurer. Rather, I was an English major who was persnickety about money. But then, as now, the finance team was a supportive group. The team has been led by Madeline Moore and includes Maddy Ouye, Kari Stanley, and Randy Ericson. Turns out it has been fun, interesting, and an honor. Six years is a good time for me to start transitioning to being support for a new treasurer. The best part of being treasurer for me is working with some of the best and smartest folks I’ve ever known. The people of this parish are generous with their hearts, talents, and treasure.
Six years ago Madeline stepped up from finance team to finance chair. She has led the parish in a successful capital campaign, led the stewardship drive and high school senior gift drive each year, and been a partner to the treasurer in myriad ways. Likewise, Madeline plans to move to a support position rather than lead on finance.
We are in the process of talking to some talented parishioners about joining the finance team in these roles and about expanding the team. If you are a parishioner interested in partnering on this team, please let us know. Erin at office@saintdavidpdx.org has our contact information.
