Youth unemployment could reach 20.5% in LAC, warns new ILO report
On August 11, the International Labor Organization (ILO) released a new report examining the impact of the pandemic on youth employment. The report's results confirm that the pandemic has affected young people more than any other age group. The report also highlights specific economic sectors where new jobs for the youth could be created through investment. Taking action on the green, digital, and care economies together, as part of a significant investment push, could bring particular benefits to improving youth employment overall.

The General Assembly, the main political body of the Organization of American States (OAS), will be held from October 4 to 7 in Lima, Peru. The Peruvian delegation has proposed the theme "Together against inequality and discrimination" as the theme of the 52nd Assembly, recognizing the urgency of acting to contain and reverse the deepening of social gaps that have increased due to the pandemic. Considering their close relationship with the theme, it is clear that labor issues will have a special relevance in the discussions that will take place in Lima. As in previous years, the participation of workers and employers through COSATE and CEATAL is expected in the dialogue between the Member States and social actors, to take place on October 4.
