Welcome

Welcome to the Spring School Holiday Program.

We were very lucky with the weather in the July school holidays with the majority of days allowing us to get outside and explore the swamps and bush.

Spring is coming and although we have had a few very wet days over the past few weeks, we are looking forward to some cool, crisp mornings with beautiful sunny days.

Looking forward to seeing you in the September/October school holidays.

Spring Holidays

Let the flowers bloom, insects buzz and adorable baby animals emerge from their nests. Spring is a beautiful time of the year and we are excited to bring you school holiday activities filled with flowers, bugs and reptiles. As the weather is clearing up, we have canoeing and camping and some wonderful family walks. It is going to be a very busy two weeks!

Special partnership

This spring, we are joining WA Parks Foundation to celebrate our beautiful parks. Together, we aim to enjoy the great outdoors by spending time in local parks this spring.

All of our programs are supported by Spring into Parks and we have a fantastic partnership event in October.
Bibb & BBQ

Enjoy a pleasant afternoon stroll along the Bibbulmun Track as we head from the Perth Hills Discovery Centre towards Kalamunda. Soak in the views of Mundaring Weir, search for blooming wildflowers, listen out for bird calls and keep your eyes open in hopes of spotting a kangaroo or two.

Once you and the family have stretched your legs, breathed in fresh air and taken some time out from the business of life, enjoy a sausage sizzle to end the evening.

For ages 7+ this activity is held at Perth Hills Discovery Centre on Saturday 1st October 4.00-6.30pm
Tickets can be purchased for $4ch and $6ad online.

Please note we will be walking approximately 4km along a gravel track. Some of the terrain can be rocky and uneven with slopped surfaces. Prams/strollers and wheelchairs will not be suitable for this walk.

Why not make it a family weekend and book a campsite at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre Campground. More details, including bookings, for the campground can be found here. Limited campsites available.

Featured Activities

Here are our top activity pics for the spring holidays:
Estuary Expedition

Join us for an expedition of the beautiful Canning River. We will practice some canoeing skills with fun challenges before we set off downstream to explore this incredible environment. Then, we will go in search of the local wildlife as we investigate this diverse ecosystem from the water. On the journey, learn how to identify elusive species and find evidence that they leave behind. Finally, learn how to protect this precious estuary and put your new skills into practice!

For ages 11-14 this activity is held at Canning River Eco Education Centre on Tuesday 27th September 9.30am-2pm.

Tickets can be purchased for $30.00 online.
Scategory Hunt

Our local bush, rivers and wetlands are filled with thousands of different animal species, each of which can be grouped by their features. On a scavenger hunt through Piney Lakes, you will work in groups to collect animal clues and then using your new found classification skills, you will identify and compare local species to solve the animal puzzle.

For ages 7-12 this activity is held at Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre on Monday 3rd of October 12.30-2.30pm.

Tickets can be purchased for $10.00 online.
Sense of Adventure

Join us as we explore our senses on an adventure through the Jarrah Forest environment. We'll discover different things to hear, see, smell and touch throughout the forest and look at how some animals use their senses to move through the bush. You'll finish by making your own little 'touch' memory of the forest to take home with you.

For ages 4-7 this activity is held at Perth Hills Discovery Centre on Thursday 29th September 9.30-11am.

Tickets can be purchased for $10.00 online.
Wonderful Waterbirds

South Perth wetlands are home to a range of water birds of all shapes and sizes. Through interactive games and activities, discover why each bird has a different beak and body shape and how their special features help them survive in and around the water. Come and explore the wetland with us and see the diversity of these beautiful birds for yourself. Then have a scoop through the water to investigate what these birds are eating and find out why we should all say NO to feeding birds bread!

For ages 3-6 this activity is held at South Perth Foreshore on Friday 30th September, 9.30-11am.
Tickets can be purchased for $5.00 online.

With Covid-19 amongst the Western Australian community, we want to ensure the health and safety of our participants, staff and volunteers.

We will be keeping in line with the Department of Health and while the circumstances may be frequently changing, we appreciate your patience and understanding while we navigate through the July school holidays to keep to program running as smoothly as possible.

We will be following the same cancellation policy as last season, which will provide an ease of mind if you are needing to cancel at the last minute due to a Covid-19 related reason. You can view the full policy here and it will also be sent as an attachment in your activity booking confirmation email.

If you, your children or another household member have been advised to isolate, are awaiting a Covid-19 test result or have a positive Covid-19 case, we ask that you do the right thing and not attend your activity/ies.
