Calling all commuters! September is Smart Commute Month!  A time focused on sustainable ways to travel from point A to point B.  This month we highlighting the Smart Commute tool - a free app that connects commuters to sustainable travel across the GTHA and in September - you could win! 

Complete the following for three ways to win:
    1) Register for the Smart Commute tool (scroll down for the "Register Now" button)
    2) Log a commute through the tool
    3) Complete this 2 minute Smart Commute Month questionnaire

(Note: Each activity is a chance to win for a total of 3 entries)

In the Hamilton region, you will be entered to win 1 of 8 prizes including 7 $50 gift cards or a $100 gift card.  


Smart Commute Month ends on Friday September 30th at 11:59pm.  Winners will be randomly selected.

  3. Get a full or partially subsidized ride home during an emergency if you commute sustainably through the Emergency Ride Home Program (ERH).  * Please check with your region/ workplace for details
  4. Collect prizes and rewards for logging trips and commuting more sustainably!

Emergency Ride Home Program

If you are a Smart Commute workplace employee and you have an unforeseen emergency on any day you use a sustainable method to commute to work, you can request reimbursement of up to $75 for your emergency transportation costs. Ensure you retain all transportation receipt(s).

Featured Infrastructure Projects

Safety Enhancement Updates on Main Street
As part of the Council approved motion to develop safety enhancements along Main Street and King Street.  These include:
  • reducing the number of travel lanes on Main Street from five to four between Dundurn Street and Sherman Avenue
  • pedestrian buffer will be added to the south lane of Main Street 
  • designated bus-only lane will be implemented in the south lane at Main Street and MacNab Street

TRANSPORTATION NEWS
Using GO Transit and HSR to get somewhere?  The HSR part is free!

Provide a valid PRESTO card and ride for FREE on the HSR when you travel to or from GO Transit.  PRESTO automatically calculates your discount and will apply it to your PRESTO account.  The co-fare discount is valid for 2 hours if you start your trip on HSR and 3 hours if you start on GO Transit.
