The Carnivore Diet - Pros & Cons

The Carnivore diet is one of the top trending low-carb diets; it consists of only meat and animal products and eliminates all carbohydrates and plant-based foods. Meaning no fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, grains, and seeds. 

Here are the most important pros and cons you should keep in mind when thinking about starting a carnivore diet…

Pros:

  1. Helps to improve insulin resistant 
  2. Increases metabolism 
  3. Provides a good source of amino acids and nutrients 
  4. Eliminates sugars and sweeteners 
  5. Provides collagen 

Cons:

  1. It’s high in fat, cholesterol, and sodium
  2. Doesn’t contain fiber (which is extremely important to balance the bacteria of your gut)
  3. Lacks certain micronutrients
  4. Changes body temperature (you will experience “meat sweats” due to a massive influx of protein)
  5. Can lead to weight gain

While the Carnivore definitely offers some benefits, we do not recommend the carnivore diet in the long term, however, we do recommend including protein in your daily diet! Bone broth and red meat are both great sources to get a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients and can be very beneficial to your health and fitness goals!

And for all our animal lovers: all our plans can also be made vegetarian, pescetarian, or vegan and will still serve you with all the nutrients you need!

What you need to know about Protein...


Protein is an essential element of your body!

Protein pushes your metabolism and keeps you saturated for a longer period of time compared to the same amount of carbs.

But how much Protein do you need?

For people with a normal activity level, it is recommended to get 0,8 g/kg/body weight per day.

For all you fitness junkies it is totally ok to get around 2g/kg/weight per day.
