Lambeth Conference Q&A with Bishop Lucinda
Bishop Lucinda has returned from attending and representing our Diocese at the recent 12-day Lambeth Conference and will host an informative question and answer session to share her experiences and insights. This one hour session will be held via Zoom on Sunday, September 18th, and begins at 4:00 pm.
The Lambeth Conference only happens every 10 years and is a gathering of the Anglican Communion of which The Episcopal Church is a member. Please take this opportunity to learn about the conference and the important ministry and mission of our global church. Thursday, September 1 is the World Day of Prayer for Creation. Please take a break at noon to join us in prayer for the healing of our planet by clicking the zoom link below:
This is offered by St Benedict’s Earthcare and other members of the diocese.
One way to observe and share the season is to consider inviting one member of the congregation each week to say a few words to share things they are doing in their own lives, or make suggestions for things that people might try.
You could also introduce (or remind) your congregation about Sustain Island Home – the carbon tracker that lets you see the difference you are making, and the difference we are making as a diocese.
During September there will be regular posts on the ECR Social Justice Facebook page; please let Caro Hall know what your congregation is doing so it can be shared with everyone.

Episcopal Relief & Development Partners with The Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe to Aid Ukrainian Refugees
The Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe, the European presence of The Episcopal Church, has a long history of ministry to refugees dating back to before World War I. Since the late 1980s, the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center (JNRC) – based at Saint Paul’s Within the Walls in Rome – has provided direct service to refugees from countless countries, helping them rebuild shattered lives.
Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development’s Ukraine Crisis Response Fund will help the organization and its partners continue to provide assistance to people displaced by the crisis in Ukraine.
Recovering from Addiction - August 27, 2022 at 10:00 am
The Brotherhood of St Andrew’s Recovery Ministry is a small group of men who work to be a conduit of information and resources regarding recovery from addiction. As addiction involves much more than alcohol and drugs it is important to know what addiction is. Also, it is important to know what recovery is. Always keeping in mind with God’s help there is hope.
This workshop includes the experience of a layperson, the strength gained by asking God for help, and the hope for a life filled with joy and peace.

A Storied Pilgrimage with Race
This is a unique curriculum a approach to exploring issues of race in our diocese. Starting Sundays at 6:30 pm from August 28 - November 13.
Though the in-person sessions are being held at St. Jude's or St. Timothy's in the Bay Area, the Zoom sessions are open to anyone in the diocese to join.
Art in the Pastures of Heaven Art Auction and Reception, September 9th at Church of the Good Shepherd & Preschool
The 15th annual Art in the Pastures of Heaven silent art auction is morphing into a hybrid event! The auction bidding remains online and available the entire weekend, 9/9 through 9/11. And, we’re returning to an Opening Night Reception on September 9th, 6 pm to 9pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd’s Parish Hall allowing a full, personal view of the art while enjoying the evening with hors d’oeuvres and local wines on the deck.

Real Episcopal is published every two weeks. News and event submissions must be received by end of day on the Sunday before publication date. Please limit submissions to 150 words in text format (unless agreed to in advance) and include the "who-what-where-when-why" information in the first paragraph.
Photos are welcome. Please send jpeg files with a minimum size of 1200 pixels wide (for phone images, select "original size" when sending).
