QUICK TAKES...if you only have a minute or two

Let’s catch up with Valentina Melica….

     Valentina Melica
was a 2018 INBRE-funded Graduate Research Assistant in the lab of Dr. Shannon Atkinson at UAF.  She  studied "Biomarkers for Reproduction and Metabolism in Large Whales from the North Pacific." She graduated in June 2020 and is currently a post-doc research scientist with the Marine Mammal conservation physiology program in the Canada Department of Fisheries and Oceans.  She is based in West Vancouver, BC, and works on physiological biomarkers (hormones, fatty acids, and stable isotopes) in Killer and Humpback Whales.  So totally cool!

Valentina has three papers from her Ph.D. project.  Her latest, "Naturally stressed? Glucocorticoid profiles in blubber of blue and gray whales in response to live history parameters." can be read here!

Congratulations on all of your success!
