FRAMES MAGAZINE - ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE - PART 2

“In this part, Kimberly literally takes us to her own darkroom and shows us some of the processes she applies, when creating her photographs. We are able to actually join the photographer in her most personal, creative environment. It is something we don't experience very often at all.

I am sure you will enjoy this part a lot.”

-Tomasz Trzebiatowski
Editor, FRAMES Magazine

I am really excited to share part 2 with you, as well as debut a number of new images for “The Many Rings of Saturn.” I have to admit that the learning curve for shooting live (while printing), as well as dealing with audio, was pretty steep, but rewarding; the work has grown tremendously over the past couple weeks - and I can’t wait for you to see it!

While I’m only debuting the first 11 images in Frames this week, I’ve been pumping out prints for weeks, so have actually made nearly twice that at present time (It took more than a few re-shoots to get some prior sound issues worked out, so the work has progressed much faster than anticipated).

Analog Forever Magazine - Online Group Exhibition - "Time” August 2022

“Between Both Worlds (aka Space Rider)” - Unique silver gelatin print (11x14); Mixed process multiple exposure with flowers, water, wax, and more; exposed via dual light sources (simultaneously). Printed February 2021

Honored to have one of my favorite early Metamorphosis images in the current online exhibition.

Analog Forever Magazine is pleased to showcase 35 images in this month’s online exhibition, entitled “Time,” curated by photographic artist, independent curator and juror, and our Editor in Chief, Michael Kirchoff!

The curator writes:

I am always so pleasantly surprised every time I put together another one of these online exhibitions for the magazine. Something very visceral and eye-opening seems to happen. Submissions come in from all over and are ever-increasing, but the most interesting thing that happens is the broad range of interpretation that takes place–especially with this one. My expectations have again been blown to bits, and I’m left with photographs that take me away to another place and, yes, time. My memories come flooding back from the deep recesses of my mind, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. But what’s great is that they remind me of the people, places, and, most importantly, the experiences I’ve had throughout. These photographs are triggers, and I am grateful for each of them.

I wrote the call for this when I was deep in the grip of Covid when I should have been resting and recuperating. Time seemed to move along at a languid pace, and often, not linearly anymore. My thoughts and emotions were jumping around, and I did not seem to feel at peace in any way whatsoever. Initially, and after the fact, I thought that maybe that wasn’t the best idea to write or even think about producing a theme for this exhibition. In hindsight, though, it may have been the only productive and intelligent thing I did while recovering. You’ve presented to me the fever dream that I did not know I was inside and done so in the most spiritual and beautiful manner possible. You’ve taken my past experiences from memory and illustrated time in a meaningful way for me. Yes, the interpretation is broad and includes some unmistakable hallmarks here and there, yet I am able to make it specific and unique with the wonderful imagery you’ve brought forth. Please take a moment to absorb these images and find some time and experiences special to you as well. It’s in there if you give it a chance.

New Interview has been modified (at last)

Very happy to tell you that my latest (print) interview, via Shoutout Arizona Magazine has been modified (at last).

I was actually asked to shoutout people & small businesses I appreciate/interact with (as well as other NYC spots I go to, or at least did pre-covid), so quite a few of you might be surprised to see your name, analog-friendly association/small business, gallery, or other small business mentioned in the article…

The shoutout list is as follows:

Frames Magazine, Scott Nichols Gallery (Scott & Kristy), Steve Anchell, FotoNostrum/The Julia Margaret Cameron Awards (and the Pollux & Black and White Spider Awards), Penumbra Foundation, Freestyle (Photo & Imaging Supplies), Analog Forever Magazine, Aeonian Magazine, On Landscape Magazine, Rick Wester Fine Art, Gitterman Gallery, Yossi Milo Gallery, Deborah Bell, Klompching (Gallery), Art Intersection, AS Projects, and Iona (+ The Museum of Metropolitan Art, which is obviously not a small business)
