Our Healthy Active Lifestyles Onkaparinga program is designed to help our community to 'Find Your 30'. Thirty minutes per day of moderate to intense physical activity is what's recommended under Australia's Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines.
We hope our newsletter will assist you in finding free or low cost ways to increase your physical activity.

Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation
The Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation (RRSF) is collaborating with the City of Onkaparinga to provide free sport and recreation programs for our local community, based at Niipu-niipu Wama (Morton Park) at Christie Downs.
These sport and recreation programs run after school and also during school holidays, are open to anyone aged 6-16 years, and are totally free!

Get active and have fun! Sports libraries provide a great opportunity to interact with your child and provide a foundation for a lifelong love of an active lifestyle.

Sport and Active Recreation Grants
Sport and Active Recreation Grants recognise and support individuals and groups who reside in the City of Onkaparinga and who have been selected to compete in sporting and active recreation events, more than 250km away.
Grants of up to $1500 for groups, and up to $150 for individuals are available.

Heart Foundation Walking
Walking has many benefits to both our physical and mental health. Walking for an average of 30 minutes or more a day can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes by 30% to 40%.

parkrun is a FREE weekly 5km timed walk, jog or run held every Saturday at 8am and we have five locations within our city. Its a great community event run by volunteers and is open to everyone of all abilities and ages.

Magical Parks
Magical Park is a new game technology aimed at getting children physically active in the outdoors and within safe boundaries. It uses geospatial Augmented Reality to turn a green space into a digital fantasy world.
You can choose to collect dinosaur eggs from caves in the land of Prehistoria or herd kittens in the world of Augmentia. You can save trapped aliens in Alien Scape and keep the park clean and rescue the trees in Evergreen. Or perhaps you may choose to help the robots find their lost parts in Robotica!

Active Kids - Closing Friday 7 October 2022
Active Kids Grants are now available.
Are you involved in a team that needs new uniforms or equipment to kick off the season? Active Kids Grants are available for volunteer-run community clubs and organisations with members aged 20 or younger.
Grants will be awarded in the form of free sports equipment and on-field or training uniforms, to be supplied by ASF partners HART Sport and ISC. For more information...
