What’s cooking, magnificent runners❓

If you’re training for a fall marathon, I hope you’re enjoying the grind. And if you’re just running for health, fitness, and fun, that’s awesome. I hope you’re having fun.

Here’s what I want to share with you this week.

🇩🇪 Running to Berlin, Weeks 10, 11 & 12: Covid Crushes Dreams

“Despite the past few days, I had decided to go for an easy long run. I needed the miles to maintain my hopes of at least doing the distance in Berlin.”

Getting back to training after covid has not been straightforward. In this report I aggregate the past three weeks, where I’ve been trying to get healthy and back to running again.

My paternity leave ends in just a couple of weeks. When that happens, I’m back to taking advantage of a runner’s ultimate life hack: The run commute. Being a gear head, I want the best backpack there is. To make the commute as efficient and comfortable as possible.

🛒🏃🏽‍♂️ Guinness World Record for Running a Mile With a Stroller

“If you thought running a 4:32 mile was hard enough, imagine running that same time while pushing a stroller. That’s exactly what Ruben Sança accomplished with his five-year-old son, Greyson, at the High Street Mile in Newburyport, Massachusetts on August 7”

I’m no stranger to stroller running. Heck, I wrote a guide on the subject. But make no mistake, I’m still absolutely awed by how fast it’s possible to cover the ground while pushing a stroller in front of you. No wonder that this article on the stroller mile world record holders from Runner’s World caught my attention. It offers insight into how one goes from a bit of multitasking (exercising and watching the kid) to setting a world record.

❤️‍🩹 Impermanence

“The past week we have been on a search-and-rescue mission for a missing runner in the wilderness, and our hearts are heavy with the reality that we may never find him.”

Even in sadness, there is beauty to be found through reflection. No run is guaranteed, except the one you’re on. Make sure you enjoy it.
