Drought Irrigation Restrictions now in Effect for HOAs

On July 21, we were informed that our HOA must comply with the California State “Second Water Conservation Emergency Regulation of 2022 (May/June 2022)”.   This does not yet apply to residences.

We must immediately stop irrigating non-functional turf with potable water.

Exempt Areas:

  • Areas not irrigated with potable water.
    • Sombra Park (across from the Clubhouse) and a small portion of the Paseo Sombra Street Trees.
    • Trabuco from Paseo Sombra to the church.
    • Trabuco from Paseo Tranquilo to Via del Rio
    • Sendero Channel
  • Non-turf areas
    • All embankments and other areas devoid of turf
  • Recreational turf areas
    • Center oval area in Abeto Park
  • Erosion control turf (This turf exemption is being debated.)
    • Most of Cipres Channel, except elevated flat areas
    • Much of the Main Green Belt, except elevated flat areas. All of the area near the Clubhouse

Affected Areas:

Water must be turned off in these areas.  We will be working on rebate funded projects to convert these to non-turf areas but it will take time.  We we will keep the tree watered but the irrigation cycles will favor the trees, not the turf per the mandate.
  • All turf in parkways.
  • Several elevated patches of turf throughout community.
  • Much of the turf around Pool 2.

The Landscape Committee is working closely with IRWD, our HOA Board, and Harvest Landscape to define and implement our new turf management policies.  We will attempt to keep the community informed of the policies and progress through these newsletters, and the webpages setup for that purpose.
