Welcoming new Forum speakers!
With the Forum fast approaching, we are please to announce we continue to keep welcoming new panelists onto our exemplary list of speakers for the Forum. These new speakers are from session two, "Corporate Leaders and the Financial World" moderated by Teresa Presas.

Our newest speakers include, Ben Vickers, Marco Eikelenboom, Catia Bastioli, and Dr. Fernando Leite.
Welcome Catia Bastioli, CEO at Novamont Group and also a chemist, a researcher and an entrepreneur. Since 1996 she has been leading the Novamont Group, an industrial reality born from the results of her research activity on the development of bioplastics and biochemicals from renewable origin, according to a model of Circular Bioeconomy that she developed, intended as territorial regeneration with the quality of soil and water at its centre.

She is President of the Kyoto Club Association (since 2009) and of the Italian Cluster of Circular Bioeconomy SPRING (since 2014). She has been a member of important EU working groups on climate change and the environment, such as the Mission Board on Soil Health and Food. First inventor of about 80 patent families in the sector of biopolymers and transformation processes of renewable raw materials, she was awarded "European Inventor of the Year 2007" by the European Patent Office and the European Commission.
Introducing Ben Vickers, Land use, Forests, and Ecosystems Senior Specialist at the Green Climate Fund who has had 25 years of experience in the fields of forestry and rural development.  Since obtaining a MSc in Forestry from the University of Oxford, he has lived in Nepal, Viet Nam, India and Thailand, working throughout Asia, and with short term assignments in the Pacific and sub-Saharan Africa.  

Since 2007 he has focused on supporting the integration of the forest sector into national climate change mitigation and adaptation policies and strategies, in particular through REDD+.  From 2012 he coordinated the work of FAO on REDD+ in the Asia-Pacific region, including through the UN-REDD Programme, the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility of the World Bank, and the development and initiation of projects under the Green Climate Fund (GCF).  In February 2021 he joined the GCF Secretariat in Korea as a Land Use, Forests and Ecosystems Senior Specialist.
Meet Marco Eikelenboom,Chief Executive Officer at Sappi Europe since April 2021. His professional career started in 1992 with KNP Fine Paper in The Netherlands and after several commercial positions in Maastricht and Paris, he was appointed Manager Corporate Planning when KNP Leykam was acquired by Sappi Ltd. in 1997.

Following this corporate strategy position, Marco took on the role as Managing Director of Sappi Benelux and left in 2002 to Sappi’s global Head Office in Johannesburg to become Marketing Director. Marco came back to Brussels as Director Marketing & Sales in 2005 and after the acquisition and integration of M-Real Graphics In 2008, he assumed the global Marketing & Sales responsibilities for the Graphics business of Sappi Europe as Vice-President Marketing & Sales. 
Meet Dr. Fernando Leite, Vice-President of ACR+, Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management. His professional career has involved an extensive as an Economist, Head of the Environment Department in the Municipality of Maia (Oporto Region) 1990-2000, CEO of LIPOR since 2000.

His current key positions include his roles as Vice-President of ACR+, Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management and Non-Executive member of the Board of Directors of several Companies. Dr. Fernando is a graduate in Economy by the Oporto University. Also graduated with a Advanced Business Management Programme (AESE, Business School).
Forum Programme
The programme is based on four theme areas of the World BioEconomy Forum. The programme will consist of presentations and high level panel discussions. The programme planning is under way in the Advisory Board.

Celebrating Dr. Christian Patermann
Dr. Christian Patermann, known as the “Father” of European bioeconomy and one of the icons for the circular bioeconomy is celebrating his 80th anniversary. Among many activities and contributions to bioeconomy, he is also one of the co-founders of the World BioEconomy Forum. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Patermann on his remarkable career and achievements, and wish him many more years of health and happiness.
