News and Updates
I had my giveaway for the copy of Daros, and the book is now making its way to the lucky winner. Thanks to all who entered. I'll do some more giveaways in the future - it's fun to hear from folks, and of course I enjoy getting my books in the hands of readers.
There's a link to a big giveaway with a $300 Amazon gift card as the prize at the bottom of this email, so be sure to check that out.
And here's another giveaway - smaller stakes, but nearly guaranteed: if anybody would like a free bookmark showing my books, let me know and I can put one in the mail for you. Free for the first twenty people who request them - just reply to this email with your mailing address.
New book update
I'm hard at work on my new sci-fi novel, although spending 4+ hours a day on play rehearsal is squeezing my time a little. I'm approaching 50,000 words, and I hope to finish this one up with maybe 70-80,000, which is a little shorter than my previous novels. My protagonist, a former space marine with a difficult past, has just met someone new - very new - and she's learning a little more about the predicament in which she's become enmeshed. Fun stuff!
Silly artwork
As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, I've been having a lot of fun with the MidJourney AI artist software, which creates images based on phrases you give it. I tend to try the stupidest phrases I can come up with to see what it will draw. Here are some of my favorite recent drawings and the phrases that inspired them:
#1: "That's way too much sriracha."
#2: "An enormous Taylor Swift assaults Fort Lauderdale."
#3: "A mariachi band playing in the airplane aisle for your entire 15-hour flight."
#4: "A dinner roll with a bad attitude."
