Welcome, new folks!

Hi, there. I've had a number of people join the mailing list recently. I want to make sure everybody gets their free Frosthelm book, Traitors Unseen. If you haven't gotten it, you can get it free here (the site will ask you to sign up for this newsletter, which you're already getting) or here from Smashwords. It's also on Apple BooksKobo, and Barnes & Noble. Please, enjoy with my compliments.

News and Updates

I had my giveaway for the copy of Daros, and the book is now making its way to the lucky winner. Thanks to all who entered. I'll do some more giveaways in the future - it's fun to hear from folks, and of course I enjoy getting my books in the hands of readers.

There's a link to a big giveaway with a $300 Amazon gift card as the prize at the bottom of this email, so be sure to check that out.

And here's another giveaway - smaller stakes, but nearly guaranteed: if anybody would like a free bookmark showing my books, let me know and I can put one in the mail for you. Free for the first twenty people who request them - just reply to this email with your mailing address.

New book update
I'm hard at work on my new sci-fi novel, although spending 4+ hours a day on play rehearsal is squeezing my time a little. I'm approaching 50,000 words, and I hope to finish this one up with maybe 70-80,000, which is a little shorter than my previous novels. My protagonist, a former space marine with a difficult past, has just met someone new - very new - and she's learning a little more about the predicament in which she's become enmeshed. Fun stuff!

Silly artwork
As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, I've been having a lot of fun with the MidJourney AI artist software, which creates images based on phrases you give it. I tend to try the stupidest phrases I can come up with to see what it will draw. Here are some of my favorite recent drawings and the phrases that inspired them:

#1: "That's way too much sriracha."

#2: "An enormous Taylor Swift assaults Fort Lauderdale."

#3: "A mariachi band playing in the airplane aisle for your entire 15-hour flight."

#4: "A dinner roll with a bad attitude."

Some stories to try

I'm part of several author collectives, and we share each other's work to try to help all of us reach more readers. In many cases, the books we share are are free or discounted. Sometimes, they ask that you sign up for a newsletter like this one.

First, I have Sapience by Alexis Lantgen. This is a collection of ten stories, all science fiction, some on other worlds, some on ours. It is free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers, and accessible at $2.99 otherwise.

Second, I have Spring Into Sci Fi (2022 edition). This is a collection of stories by fifteen different authors. It's part of an annual anthology series that's been going on for five years, and even better, it's on sale now for $1.99.

Next, I have a series of books about shapeshifters, the P.A.W.S. Saga, by Debbie Manber Kupfer. These are stories about werewolves and other enchanted young people who are part of a secret society. It's a young-adult series set in the modern world, but one with secret magic. All nine books are on sale for $0.99 now.

A massive giveaway!

Finally, I have a chance at a big giveaway with a $300 Amazon gift card at stake! There are lots of ways to enter, but most of them involve following fantasy authors on the BookBub site for readers. Have a look and enter if you like what you see. If you're a BookBub user, I would love to have you as a follower, and you can have a chance at a big win for doing so (and for following others) through this contest.

Thanks!

I'm so grateful to have you as part of my little literary community. I hope you've enjoyed my fantasy and science fiction novels, and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you in the coming months - at least two more books before the end of the year, if everything goes as planned. I hope you enjoyed my silly AI art - let me know if you'd like to see more.

May the Bloodmother watch over you -
Dave
