Dear <<First Name>>,
It's the one you've been waiting for . . . !
We're now offering a limited number of places for water vole survey training on
Tuesday 30 August. 10am - 4pm
Brough / Langdon Beck
ERT will be monitoring water voles in the Eden catchment over the next 4 years as part of the new water vole re-introduction project. This training is being offered to anyone interested in getting involved by taking on a monitoring patch to survey between April and June each year. This could be either in one of our target areas or at a location near you.
The course will consist of a 2hr indoor theory session in the morning followed by a site visit in the afternoon for practical survey and monitoring training.
Morning theory session
Brough Memorial Hall, 10am - 12noon
Introduction to water voles, ecology, threats, field signs, habitat and surveying techniques
There will be a 40 min drive (car share) to the field site
Afternoon field visit
Langdon Beck, 1.45pm - 3.15pm
Water vole survey training, habitat features and field sign ID
The training is open to anyone who is interested in getting involved with the ERT water vole project. You will need to be able to walk to and around the survey sites where the ground is likely to be wet, overgrown and uneven.
Further details will be sent out with booking confirmation.
All the information we collect about the status of this endangered mammal in the Eden catchment will be added to the national water vole database ran by PTES.
