Smokey’s Scouts Game App

Wildfire prevention icon Smokey Bear has entered the world of phone games! The new Smokey’s Scouts game app was developed by students at Columbus College of Art and Design in cooperation with the Mid Atlantic Fire Protection Compact (ODNR Forestry is a member) and the US Forest Service.

FD Grants from ODNR Forestry

FDs must have an active registration with SAM.gov to be eligible to receive grants from ODNR Forestry. The annual Volunteer Fire Assistance grant opportunity will be opening in November, so now is the time to ensure that your FD is registered and active.

• Talk to your fiscal manager and ensure your entity is properly register at SAM.gov
• IMPORTANT CHANGE: DUNS number is no longer being used by SAM.gov. Instead, each entity that is registered at SAM.gov is assigned a UEI (unique entity ID). The UEI number is a required piece of information on ODNR Forestry grant applications.
• Check out the SAM.gov website to gain more information about the registration process

Every year there are very strong VFA applications from Ohio FDs that are excluded from consideration because of lack of SAM.gov registration or inactive registration. Don’t disqualify your FD by neglecting to complete this required process!
