DEMO25 VICTOR DROUIN-TREMPE – EMPREINTES SONORES

Dans cette nouvelle Démo, Victor Drouin-Trempe [membre étudiant, UQAM-UdeM] présente Empreintes sonores, une installation interactive explorant les liens de plus en plus étroits qui se tissent entre agents non-humains (plus particulièrement les assistants vocaux, comme le Google Home) et agents humains au sein de ces nouveaux écosystèmes où nos voix et nos mouvements sont entendus et enregistrés à notre insu. Mais où vont tous ces sons ? Dans l’installation réalisée lors de sa résidence à l’été 2022, un Google Home Mini écoute discrètement. À partir d’un certain seuil, un fragment de son est enregistré et l’onde sonore est projetée sur le mur, comme si le son était figé dans le temps et dans l’espace. In this new Demo, Victor Drouin-Trempe [student member, UQAM-UdeM] presents Empreintes sonores, an interactive installation exploring the increasingly close relations between non-human agents (more specifically voice assistants, such as the Google Home) and human agents within these new ecosystems where our voices and movements are heard and recorded without our knowledge. But where do all these sounds go? In the installation created during his residency in the summer of 2022, a Google Home Mini listens discreetly. Once a certain threshold is reached, a fragment of sound is recorded and the sound wave is projected onto the wall, as if the sound was frozen in time and space. To discover here.

Hexagram et SYNTHÈSE - la vitrine nationale et internationale pour le rayonnement de l’expertise et de la formation en image de synthèse au Québec, en collaboration avec MUTEK Forum, invitent leurs membres et partenaires à un panel sur les pipelines de production qui favorisent la création numérique en recherche, et les collaborations entre art et industries. À ce panel, animé par Anne Le Bouyonnec [SYNTHÈSE], participeront Louis-Philippe Rondeau [membre cochercheur, UQAC-NAD], David Hurtubise [UQAC-NAD], Yan Breuleux [membre cochercheur, UQAC-NAD], Rilla Khaled [membre cochercheure, Université Concordia] et Gina Hara [Université Concordia, TAG]. Hexagram and SYNTHÈSE, the national and international showcase for Quebec’s expertise and training in computer graphics, in collaboration with MUTEK Forum, are inviting their members and partners to a panel discussion on the various production pipelines that promote digital creation in research, as well as collaborations between the arts and industry. Will participate in this panel, animated by Anne Le Bouyonnec [SYNTHÈSE],  Louis-Philippe Rondeau [member co-investigator, UQAC-NAD], David Hurtubise [UQAC-NAD], Yan Breuleux [member co-investigator, UQAC-NAD], Rilla Khaled [member co-investigator, Concordia University] and Gina Hara [Concordia University, TAG]. TOURMENTE, UNE OEUVRE DE JEAN DUBOIS

Tourmente de Jean Dubois [membre cochercheur, UQAM] met en scène un ensemble de treize portraits que les visiteurs ont le pouvoir de transformer en soufflant dans le micro de leur téléphone cellulaire. Selon l’intensité de l’air qu’ils y expirent, les visages des personnages sont caressés par une brise légère ou encore secoués, voire déformés, par une violente bourrasque de vent. À la fois ludique et bouleversante, l’expérience questionne notre empathie en opposant notre plaisir du jeu au rapport que l’on entretient avec la souffrance d’autrui. En savoir plus.

Tourmente by Jean Dubois [member co-investigator, UQAM] features a set of thirteen portraits that visitors have the power to transform by blowing into the microphone of their cell phone. Depending on the intensity of the air they exhale, the faces of the characters are caressed by a light breeze or shaken, even distorted, by a violent gust of wind. Both playful and moving, the experience questions our empathy by opposing our pleasure in the game to the relationship we have with the suffering of others. Read more.

Avec son thème 100 ans de savoirs pour un monde durable, cette édition qui se tiendra du 8 au 12 mai 2023 sera l’occasion de rappeler que les enjeux complexes qui traversent la société actuelle nécessitent des réponses audacieuses, ingénieuses et pragmatiques fondées sur la recherche universitaire.
