Dear Friends,

RIDE AND STRIDE SEPTEMBER 10th 2022: A MESSAGE FROM CHRIS JANY
Over the past 25 years, The Surrey Churches Preservation Trust made grants amounting to more than £5000,000 to help with the repair and conservation churches of all Christian denominations. Our very own Lovelace Mausoleum received a significant contribution towards its renovation in 2008. The Trust’s main source of income is through its Ride & Stride Day which takes place over National Heritage weekend. Cyclists and walkers are invited to raise money for both the Trust and participating churches through sponsorship. The event is open to everyone especially hikers and cyclists.  You are more than welcome to  join me in cycling around the deanery visiting  the 25 affiliated churches of the Leatherhead Deanery indicated on the map. It is bit more than a walk but not strenuous for an occasional cyclist.  This co-incides with Heritage Day where our own Lovelace Mausoleum will be open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

The route is via Downside, Cobham, Oxshott, Ashtead, Leatherhead, The Bookhams and Effingham finishing at St Martins at lunchtime.
The money that we collect is divided equally between St Martin’s and the Surrey Churches Preservation Trust.

If you would like to join me for all or part of the route or even do something independently, please be in contact.  To make a donation click HERE.

FOODBANK
I mentioned recently that  our local Foodbank has noticed a considerable drop in donations from its various collection points.  I am encouraging all the church family to try to remember to bring at least one item each week and leave it in the collection bin. Please remember that the Foodbank is relying on our generosity to continue providing food to those in our village in need.  The cost of living crisis is impacting local families.  The Foodbank is in need of tinned soup, pasta sauce, tinned fish, tinned meat, UHT fruit juice 1L, UHT milk 1L (semi-skimmed or whole), fruit squash, tinned sweetcorn, tinned custard,  tinned potatoes, bleach, disposable razors, laundry liquid, shampoo & conditioner.  Please do not donate out-of-date items. Thank you for your continued support.

THE TENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY

Let your merciful ears, O Lord,
be open to the prayers of your humble servants;
and that they may obtain their petitions
make them to ask such things as shall please you;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
AMEN
