Education Events
AMWA-PATH is working with many different schools, institutions, and other areas to plan LIFT Trainings. If you are interested in bringing this free CME-accredited training to your institution, please reach out to path_admin@amwa-doc.org with proposed dates and locations. Look out for updates regarding upcoming LIFT trainings in your area!
Details of future LIFT events including time and registration will be posted on the AMWA-PATH Social Media pages when they become available.

Committee Updates
The PATH Research Committee is currently working on finalizing the manuscript entitled "Human Trafficking and Public Health: Survivor Compensation and Responsible Collaboration." The committee is hosting monthly journal clubs as well, which are included in the PATH calendar. The current chair of the committee is Minka Gil and the assistant co-chair is Imaima Casubhoy.
Prior Research Projects:
- The Impact of Human Trafficking Training on Health Professionals’ Knowledge and Attitudes was published in April/May in the Journal of Medical Education & Curricular Development (Sarah Hofer, Emily Anderson, Sahar Caravan, Dr. Geynisman)
- Jennifer Talbot is working on a national Surrey of US Medical Schools regarding human trafficking curriculum.
- A manuscript that assess training of surgical residents regarding human trafficking is being finalized by Sneha Aidasani
- The Physician Resilience project is in the statistical analysis stage. Researchers are working on developing and honing the manuscript with the target journal being the JAMA network open.
The public relations committee has welcomed Anu Verma as their new student leader. The PR committee is excited to gain more followers and reach a wider audience on social media. They plan to focus on educational posts regarding human trafficking, highlighting our monthly newsletters, student spotlights, and other campaigns. The education subcommittee has welcomed Emelyn Zaworski and Analine Delgado as their new chairs. The committee is working on creating a one-page human trafficking summary sheet for healthcare students and providers with an emphasis on recognizing red flags. In addition, they will be consolidating existing PATH educational resources to submit as a virtual learning module to the AAMC.
The fundraising committee has been working to identify foundations whose goals align with PATH and have begun the process of submitting grant proposals. Funds raised in this process will go toward benefitting LIFT training seminars, administrative operating costs, and other projects within PATH.
The Advocacy Committee had its first ADVOCATE meeting in July! They want to welcome the new members of the committee and are excited to work with them on upcoming projects like the Human Trafficking State Policy FYI flyers. The new leaders of this committee are Victoria Addis and Gabrielle Tangkilisan.
