Minister O’Gorman announces €1,000,000 International Protection Integration Fund 2022
  • €1,000,000 will be made available to community based organisations for initiatives supporting the integration of International Protection Applicants.
  • Successful applicants stand to receive grants of up to €50,000 to carry out integration projects at national, provincial, or local levels throughout Ireland.
26 July 2022

Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, today (26 July 2022) announced €1,000,000 in funding under the International Protection Integration Fund 2022. The Fund aims to enable community based organisations across Ireland to play a greater role in supporting the integration of International Protection Applicants. Two funding streams will be available to organisations for both single and multi-county projects, awarding grants of €10,000 - €50,000.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister O’Gorman said:

"As detailed in A White Paper to End Direct Provision, the new model of supports proposed for International Protection Applicants centres on the idea of integration from day one. My department is working hard to ensure that all people seeking protection in this country are thoroughly supported to become members of their local communities. The International Protection Integration Fund 2022 will help progress this initiative by funding projects which support the integration of International Protection Applicants into towns and cities across the country. Bolstering the work already being done by the government and supported by local communities to welcome new cultures, the fund will ensure that those seeking protection are empowered to actively participate in Irish society whilst maintaining their diverse cultural identities."
The Housing Commission is inviting submissions (of up to 2,500 words) on whether there should be a referendum on the introduction of a constitutional amendment regarding housing, and, if so, what form such a constitutional amendment might take. The Commission would like to encourage as many people as possible to have their say in this consultation on a Referendum on Housing in Ireland. Members of the public, public representatives, organisations involved in housing, people working in related policy and legal areas are now invited to send in submissions to assist the Commission in its task of providing independent advice to the government on a potential constitutional amendment.

The Irish Architecture Foundation is working with several peatland communities – in Cloontuskert, Co. Roscommon; Kilcormac, Co. Offaly; Lanesborough, Co. Longford - as part of our Reimagine Workers’ Villages project. This project aims to celebrate the heritage of these important former Bord na Móna villages, while also exploring opportunities for the future as Ireland transitions away from peat harvesting. We want to ensure that local communities have a strong voice and role in building this future. If you’re interested in following the project’s journey or sharing your own hopes and ideas for the future of Ireland’s peatlands, join our dedicated Facebook group for updates, discussions and more. https://www.facebook.com/groups/reimagineworkersvillages

The Hugh Lane Gallery and Create are delighted to announce this significant opportunity for a collaborative/ socially engaged artist(s) to embark on a major commission.
Following on from their successful partnership on the CAPP commission (2017) awarded to Seamus Nolan’s Traveller Collection which investigated the idea of archive, deconstructed ideas on ‘heritage’ and engaged with communities of place and of interest involving Traveller activists and archivists, The Hugh Lane Gallery and Create are delighted to once again partner to offer a significant opportunity for collaborative/ socially engaged artist(s). We believe that collaborative arts involve artists and communities (non-arts professionals) who work together, often over extended periods, to make art. By facilitating wider participation, collaborative arts expand and diversify public engagement with the arts, enriching its contribution to society.

In keeping with both Hugh Lane Gallery and Create’s commitment to principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, we seek expressions of interest from artists who are from minority ethnic backgrounds and/ or have lived experience of displacement and/or are shaped by histories of intergenerational migration. Candidates may self-identify as Traveller, Roma, refugee, migrant or otherwise through lived experience and/or second generational memories. The commission is open to artists based in the Republic of Ireland.

The commission is aimed at professional artist(s) who are interested in developing or consolidating their collaborative/ socially engaged arts practice. Artist(s) should have a track record and experience of working in the field of collaborative/ socially engaged arts practice. The artist(s) should demonstrate the ability to connect to and read the complexities of the local area of Dublin city geographically within the Dublin City Council administrative area. We particularly welcome proposals which consider diverse ways to engage with both community and audience.
The Hugh Lane Gallery and Create will support the selected artist(s) by facilitating an inclusive and intersectional creative axis where art making, co-production, learning and knowledge exchange are the principals on which the relationship between the selected artist(s) and the community is built.

Full details and the application process (deadline for receipt of applications is 17.00 GMT Monday 22 August 2022) can be found on our website.
