Notice of an Appeal (E. de Giles) to be heard by the Disciplinary Panel on Thursday 18 August

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority will convene on Thursday 18 August 2022 to hear an Appeal brought by Ed de Giles, trainer of FITZROVIA, against the decision of the Stewards at Chepstow on 22 July 2022 to reverse the placings following the ptl.uk.com Supplier to the Event Industry Handicap Stakes (Class 5).

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, FITZROVIA, ridden by Luke Morris, and GREG THE GREAT, placed second, ridden by George Downing. The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental but had improved the placing of FITZROVIA as the gelding had ducked sharply right-handed before being corrected, intimidating GREG THE GREAT off its intended line at the time as the gelding appeared to be gaining on the winner, causing it to lose momentum to the extent that the Stewards considered that the ground lost was greater than the nose by which GREG THE GREAT was beaten. They ordered the placings to be revised as follows: First; GREG THE GREAT, second; FITZROVIA, third; ALYARA, and fourth; KING OF WAR.
